The Boeing AvionX organization is seeking a highly motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and in Hazelwood, MO, to support AvionX work across Boeing Defense (BDS).

Boeing AvionX develops and produces avionics and electronics systems designed for use on aircraft and other platforms for purposes such as navigation, flight controls, information systems, and other core avionics functions.  We have set our sights high – to design, develop, and manufacture the most technically advanced and reliable avionic components in the world. We are innovating and developing new products to address the future of the urban air mobility as well as our next generation of commercial, tactical, and trainer aircraft markets, weapons and others.

The AvionX Product Development team that supports our USN/USAF teams is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer (level 4) with the capability to lead the Integration and Producibility of various avionics units.

Manufacturing knowledge, processing information and requirements knowledge for the Defense Mission Computing team as their designated Production Lead. With the responsibility to interface with our AvionX Customers to support production, retrofit, spares, fleet returns and the modernization, and sustainment activities for the various avionics we support, across the whole BGS defense portfolio, including the F-15, F/A-18, T-7A, MQ-25 platforms.

Manufacturing Engineering activities include working with the various programs to ensure the drawing release schedule, development and updates of the kit bill of material, development of purchasing activities and updates to support AvionX fabrication Instructions that are required to allow the coordination and to support the various customers that AvionX supports. This position will also support Quality, Liaison Engineering and shop support activities on site and with other AvionX sites.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Review of design models and drawings, creating/reviewing redlines and coordinating with design to incorporate updates

  • Support the Authorship of manufacturing plans with the various programs to facilitate build

  • Fabrication coordination for a number of Lab's and Technicians

  • Ensure Part sourcing for production with the various Production Control focals

  • Procurement of parts/material to support Avionicx production, coordination with supplier management

  • Shipside (in the various Labs) support of hardware installation to include Test Rack's

  • Close coordination with: AvionX Engineering teams, Lab engineers and technicians, program engineers, Boeing customers, fabrication technicians and support personnel (material management), electrical and mechanical designers across AvionX and Enterprise

  • Leads others and directs all phases of assigned cross-organizational or business unit projects demonstrating proficiency in all project management areas in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g., PMI, Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI, and ISO standards)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience

  • 5+ years of experience with project management

  • 3+ years of experience with developing and executing operating rhythms, integrated program schedules, project plans, and/or metrics

  • 3+ years of experience providing process improvements and integration strategies

  • 3+ years of experience in developing and maintaining relationships/partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience developing and optimizing efficient manufacturing plans

  • Experience generating/approving work instructions, work orders, planning documents

  • Oversight, and management responsibility (including performance mgmt. & reporting) for a portfolio of small to medium size projects in support of AvionX goals and objectives

  • Ensures assigned individuals are executing the identified and assigned tasks and providing appropriate tracking and reporting per plan

  • Provides in-depth analysis of project culminating with lessons learned and historical reports for incorporation into future project plans

  • Develops solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation

  • Active Secret DoD clearance

  • Experience with Team Center/Unigraphics and 3DX

  • 1+ years’ experience with 3D modeling software (TeamCenter, 3DX)

  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $109,650 - $148,350
