Boeing is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineering Manager to serve as Boeing’s representative on the National Team, a collaborative group established by MDA Director, Air Force Lt. Gen. Ronald Kadish in January 2002 located in Huntsville, AL.

The National Team unites top engineers and scientists from leading defense contractors - including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon - along with specialized partners, to advance the development and integration of critical components of the Missile Defense System (MDS).

In this role, you will lead the technical integration of diverse technologies and systems, including interceptor missiles, command and control architectures, and radar technologies, to deliver a unified and effective missile defense capability. The National Team leverages deep expertise in missile design, infrared seeker technology, command and control systems, and radar operations. The ideal candidate will excel in both the engineering technical acumen/excellence required for this role while being an engaging and motivating people leader.

Position Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Execution:

  • Manage Boeing employees and mid-level managers for the National Team programs.

  • Develop and implement organizational plans and policies to guide strategies and objectives.

  • Grow the National Team to meet workshare goals of its growing portfolio and foster team development.

Systems Engineering Strategy and Planning:

  • Create and implement systems engineering strategies and processes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.

  • Acquire resources and lead process improvements.

Technical Expertise and Oversight:

  • Oversee and approve technical approaches and products.

  • Maintain effective relationships with customers, stakeholders, and team members.

Risk and Opportunity Management:

  • Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities using established methodologies.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite, requiring the selected candidate to work at the Boeing Jetplex Facility in Huntsville, AL.

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • Must be an existing member of the National Team

  • 10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years in management or relevant leadership experience.

  • 5+ years of experience using systems engineering practices to plan and/or execute requirements verification.

  • 5+ years of experience leading or managing cross-functional or cross-organizational teams within engineering and/or test.

  • Detailed knowledge of regional and homeland missile defense elements and systems including sensors, communications, and effectors

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to obtain an interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start.

  • Proven experience in executive-level communication and presentations.

  • Strong ability to cultivate excellent customer and stakeholder relationships.

  • Ability to effectively engage with all levels of management, customers, and partners.

  • Previous management experience with a focus on creating an inclusive and trusting environment.

  • Leadership skills to drive positive outcomes and mentor individuals and teams.

  • Experience in providing mentorship and career guidance to team members.

Typical summary pay range: $178,500- $241,500
