Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Senior Structures & Payload Design Engineer to join the Design CenterSouth located in Huntsville, Alabama, Titusville, Florida, New Orleans, Louisiana or Houston, Texas. This position will focus on the structural design and product definition for Boeing platforms to include space vehicles, launch systems and payloads, commercial aircraft, UAV, ground vehicles, and various defense industry platforms and products.

Tasks will include design definition on modern aerospace and aircraft structures: 3D CAD model generation and product data management systems design for structures and structural hardware and assemblies. Work will include a mix of model-based definition and traditional drawing generation. Work will interface with adjacent engineering functions to include stress analysis, materials and processes, manufacturing, procurement, quality, safety, systems and verification to arrive at integrated engineering solutions, for full life cycle performance. Designs will comply with customer requirements, including typical release processes and signature cycle approvals. Candidate will also support supplier development, testing, and production activities, collaborating closely with suppliers to optimize designs and achieve program objectives.

Position Responsibilities

  • Structural design and model-based product definition using 3D CAD

  • Product data management systems

  • Interpreting customer requirements into complying with product designs

  • Drawing generation and release

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Typically, 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 14+ years of design experience, preferably with modern aerospace and defense industry platforms

  • 14+ years of experience with Creo, Catia, NX CAD software

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift:

This is a 1st shift position.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $134,300 - $194,350
