Systems Engineer - Network

Why This is an Exciting Role:

As a Systems Engineer at Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A), this position will be supporting the Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) Engineering Development and Early Integration Labs for the Missile Defense Agency. In this role you will be responsible for the network engineering and infrastructure of GMD system architecture and be positioned to support the customer to execute critical network engineering in different lab environments on the System Integration Test and Readiness (SITR) contract.

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience:  

  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP)
  • Designing, building and optimizing network infrastructure
  • Experience with a team of engineers, system administrators, subject matter experts, and/or subcontractors to coordinate all phases of integration, testing, maintenance, and development.
  • Experience with AutoCAD designing and documenting electrical and mechanical engineering drawings utilizing the ASME Y14.100 drawing standard
  • Engineering troubleshooting skills and configuration management best practices
  • Communication and collaboration across engineering and non-engineering functions
  • Supporting of relevant meetings, reviews, briefings and working groups
  • Work in a rapid-paced team environment

Required Education and Years of Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment

  • Current CCNA certification (or higher level – see “Desired Qualifications” – similar certifications to meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements)
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience with networking monitoring tools (e.g. SolarWinds, Wireshark)
  • Experience in designing, building, developing solutions, optimizing, and maintaining cyber compliance for all appliances of network infrastructure
  • Experience providing design drawings utilizing drafting software (AutoCad) for rack mechanical, electrical, and/or network topologies
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a United States Security Clearance (An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance is required pre-start.)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance (or higher)
  • CCNP (Enterprise or Data Center) or CCIE (Enterprise Infrastructure or Data Center) or CCDE.
  • CompTIA Security+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Experience with network appliances outside of Cisco (i.e. PaloAlto)
  • Experience utilizing drafting standard ASME Y14.100 with AutoCad for rack mechanical, electrical, and/or network topologies
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills including the ability to review network performance, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
  • Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program experience

Summary Pay Range:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Level 3: $93,000 - $145,000
