Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a System Engineer to serve as a Space and Launch Systems Engineer on our team in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Project assignments typically span the complete program life cycle, from internal trades, concept studies and system definition, to satellite development, launch, and on-orbit operations and test. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design, develop, and delivery of state-of-the-art communication systems and payload systems for space-based applications for commercial, civil, or national security programs.
  • Serve on a team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems.
  • Participate in a large cross-functional group including customers, suppliers, hardware and software engineers, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists that ensures final products meet mission objectives.
  • Assist with system analyses and simulations for space communications and payload systems.
  • Support optimization of system design by performing trade studies, flow downs, and verifying subsystem and unit requirements.
  • Assist in developing ConOps, supporting integration and testing, and validating interfaces.
  • Assist with performing analyses to optimize total system of systems or system architecture, and analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialty quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

To meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite in Las Cruces, NM.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; domestically depending on business needs.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim or final U.S. TS/SCI Clearance Pre-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to obtain poly.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Educational and/or technical experience in electrical engineering, RF engineering, avionics, computer science, or related fields.

Typical Education & Experience:

Entry Level (level 1): 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Associate (level 2): 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Shift Work:

This position is for a rotating shift.  Shift differential and overtime apply.

Summary pay range:

Entry Level (level 1):  62,900 – 85,100

Associate (level 2):  75,650 – 102,350
