Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company’s Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) business unit has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Operations;Senior Manufacturing Manager (Level M) to lead our Manufacturing Operations team in Sylmar, California.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing process, ensuring safety, quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, a collaborative mindset, and a deep understanding of manufacturing best practices.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements manufacturing strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
  • Oversees daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining safe, high-quality standards.
  • Leads and mentors a team of manufacturing managers and staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Analyzes production metrics and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and industry standards, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including engineering, supply chain, quality, program management, and facilities, to optimize production processes.
  • Manages budgets and resources effectively, ensuring cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Drives the adoption of new technologies and manufacturing techniques to enhance productivity and innovation.
  • Prepares and presents reports on manufacturing performance to senior management.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • More than 5 years of experience working as a senior leader or senior manager.
  • More than 10 years of experience in a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Experience leading or managing cross functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with production processes, lean manufacturing principles, and quality management systems.
  • Experience using verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and presenting to executive leadership.
  • Leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse workforce.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Experience using manufacturing software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $164,900 - $203,700
