Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking two Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Technicians (Associate or Experienced) = Composites to join the Total Quality Fabrication team located in Mesa, AZ.

The Mesa NDT Team performs and oversees inspections supporting numerous Boeing platforms in the disciplines of Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), Penetrant Testing (PT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT).  

We are currently seeking to add team member(s) to either our NDT Metals (MT & PT) or NDT Composites (UT & RT) groups. These teammates will be responsible for learning and applying the listed NDT Methods to ensure the parts we deliver maintain the upmost quality, providing our customers worry-free and safe operation of our products. Teammates will be responsible for maintaining compliance to various industry standards (e.g. NAS410, ATSMs, AS9100, etc) along with internal engineering specifications.

Within the NDT Metals group, a successful teammate may perform Stationary Magnetic Particle inspections on a Unidirectional bench, along with both Stationary and Portable Liquid Penetrant inspections supporting both New Manufacture and Repair & Overhaul programs.

Within the NDT Composites group, a successful candidate may perform Ultrasonic Inspections of composite laminates and/or multiple bond line inspections utilizing manual hand scanning and automated C-Scan equipment along with Radiographic Inspection of bond lines and other structural components utilizing Computed Radiography (CR) equipment.

Technicians may support both First and Second Shifts as required by business needs.

This position will require the ability to lift 35 lbs.

Level 2 (Associate) Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent with 2+ years of related work experience, minimum required Formal Training Hours for a Certified Level I per NAS410, or NAS410 Certified Level I in one or more of the methods listed

Level 3 (Experienced) Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent with minimum required Formal Training Hours for a Certified Level II per NAS410, or a NAS410 Level II Certification in one or more of the methods listed

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs setup for specialized non-destructive test or measurement equipment.

  • Performs tests or inspections and collects data.

  • Documents, analyzes and communicates results of tests and inspections

  • Assists with corrective action recommendations.

  • Assists in the documentation of processes and procedures

Additional This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in NDT/NDI Testing

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint)

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical publications and/or specifications

  • Experience inaerospace manufacturing operations and/or manufacturing support

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: 3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Current or previous NAS410 Certified Level II in MT, PT, UT, or RT

  • Minimum hours required of formal education in Nondestructive Testing (NDT) for a Certified Level II per NAS410 in a NDT technique

  • 2+ years of experience performing NDT inspections for composite assemblies (UT or RT)

  • 2+ years of experience in an aerospace composites manufacturing role

  • 2+ years of experience performing MT on Wet Horizontal Bench

  • 2+ years of experience performing Type I Method A/C PT inspections

  • 2+ years of experience supporting aerospace drivetrain and/or flight controls inspections, repairs, or assembly

  • Active U.S. Security Clearance

  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies

Typical Education & Experience:

Level 2:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).

Level 3:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.

Summary pay range for Level 2 (associate level): USD 63,800 – 81,200

Summary pay range for Level 3 (experienced level): USD  75,900 – 96,600
