Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking an Associate Chemical Technologies Engineer for the 787 Wing & Empennage Engineering Support Team in North Charleston, SC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Define engineering requirements and select or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, machinery, tools, and automation systems to support product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations.

  • Plan and execute qualification activities for new materials, parts, processes, and suppliers, including test programs and audits.

  • Perform failure and performance analyses of tools, materials, parts, or processes to identify root causes and recommend corrective or preventive actions.

  • Manage test programs, supplier qualifications, and related documentation to ensure compliance with program requirements.

  • Apply project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule objectives for assigned tasks and projects.

  • Integrate environmental health and safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into materials/process design, research and qualification, procedures, and laboratory/office operations.

  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other engineering teams to support product development and production readiness.

  • Maintain technical records, specifications, and reports to support audits, certifications, and continuous improvement efforts.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 1+ years’ experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment

  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications related to chemical finishes and corrosion protection for aerospace applications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with aerospace organic and inorganic finishes

  • Experience with aerospace chemical coating technology

  • Experience with chemical coating material qualification

  • Experience analytical lab practices (FTIR, GCMS, environmental testing)

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

Pay Range Summary:

  • Summary pay range for Associate (level 2): $91,800 – $124,200
