The Boeing Company is currently seeking an F/A-18 and EA-18G Flight Test Engineer based out of Patuxent River, MD. This role will direct maintenance activity and control configuration on one or more F/A-18 and/or EA-18G flight test aircraft.

This position is primarily 1st shift; periodic shift change and domestic travel are required to support test program objectives.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Mid-Level F/A-18 and EA-18G Flight Test Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support pre-flight briefs, and post-flight debriefs

  • Brief test pilots on aircraft configuration, weight & balance, maintenance activity, and changes since last flight at each pre-flight brief

  • Provide real-time support and monitoring of test flights

  • Write flight reports for each test flight supported

  • Coordinate with test team personnel, project engineers, maintenance, and US Navy customer

  • Act as a Liaison between engineering test team and maintenance personnel to accomplish required maintenance and reconfiguration for testing

  • Create and issue timely and accurate paperwork to ensure proper and safe test aircraft configuration to support scheduled flight and ground tests

  • Conduct effective work program meetings to discuss required work on assigned aircraft, modifications, test schedules, configuration, etc.

  • Assist the Test Conductor with preparation for, and conduct of, F/A-18 and/or EA-18G test flights

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience in flight test

  • Experience with F-18 Aircraft

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering

  • Programming and/or Database management experience

  • Active U.S. secret or higher security clearance

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range for Associate level (Level 2): $85,850 – $116,150

Summary Pay Range for Mid-level (Level 3):  $102,000 – $138,000

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
