Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ Workforce Development organization is seeking an Experienced Workforce Specialist to support the development and sustainment of external manufacturing talent pipelines.

Workforce Development Specialists play an important role in engaging with our external manufacturing talent pipelines, building and sustaining relationships with instructors, students, administrators and other key stakeholders.

This position is located in Renton WA, but requires up to 50% travel across the Puget Sound region and several weeks annually of travel to other states. (The majority of local travel will be in northern WA, North Seattle all the way up to Bellingham)

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with instructors of manufacturing and shop classes at high schools, Community & Technical Colleges and other Talent Building Organizations; understanding what educators are teaching in their programs and providing resources for better aligning their learning outcomes to aerospace manufacturing skill needs
  • Align academic and/or military talent building organizations to internal manufacturing job requirements via curriculum, SME support, documentation and understanding of learning outcomes, teacher training, project development and technical coaching/mentorship
  • Maintain tracking tools and documentation about interactions with instructors and other stakeholders at Talent Building Organizations
  • Make recommendations about appropriate engagement and curriculum alignment tactics for programs in their portfolio
  • Build and maintain a network within Boeing of specialists and subject matter experts
  • Partners with skill teams and hiring organizations across multiple disciplines
  • Present content to students and instructors at portfolio organizations  (in-person and/or virtual)
  • Create communications materials including emails, presentations and informational content
  • Follow-up consistently with stakeholders, supporting Workforce Development communication plans and responding to enquiries
  • Interact with students at all levels of work and education experience to help guide them toward career opportunities in aerospace manufacturing
  • Correspond with students, instructors and administrators from external manufacturing talent pipelines
  • Support manufacturing student experiences including: skills competitions, work-based learning/ student development programs
  • Attend career fairs and other hiring events as needed

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience with public speaking and presenting information in a team and/or leadership setting
  • 3+ years of experience in using professional written and verbal communication skills to achieve deliverables
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Excel)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience actively maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • 2+ years of experience with interacting with students preferably from high school, community and technical college and/or military personnel
  • Manufacturing hands on job experience (ex: assembly mechanic, electrical assembly, tooling, machining, aviation maintenance, equipment maintenance, automotive, etc.)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Team player who enjoys doing something different each day

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $86,700 - $127,500
