This role supports MATES engineering functions and associated calibration labs in the Puget Sound region. You will collaborate with factory teams, quality organizations, enterprise metrology partners, and external suppliers to ensure Measurement & Test Equipment (M&TE) is capable, traceable, and available when needed.

About MATES

  • Analyze measurement data—including off-nominal or out-of-tolerance conditions—and support root-cause investigations

  • Develop and improve calibration procedures, specifications, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance

  • Drive continuous-improvement projects that reduce cycle time, improve M&TE availability, and increase test-system reliability

  • Prepare and deliver clear technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders

  • Coordinate cross-site project planning and technical integration with other MATES engineers and Boeing business units

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Examples: photometry. acceleration, acoustics, torque, wire crimpers, pressure stands, load cells, temperature/thermal systems, electrical test benches, CMMs, optical comparators, data-acquisition rigs.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications

  • Proven ability to communicate technical details clearly and concisely with customers and cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Level 4: 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 3 + years of direct experience in metrology or calibration/certification (ISO 17025, ANSI Z540, gage R&R, uncertainty budgets, interval analyses)

  • Experience with multiple parameter families (torque, pressure, force, mass, thermodynamics, temperature, electrical, wire, dimensional)

  • Ability to read engineering drawings/specifications and translate them into practical measurement set-ups

  • Demonstrated success leading process-improvement or project-management activities (Lean, Six Sigma, RCCA, Agile)
