Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Senior Engine Strategy Specialist (level 5) to join our Airplane Product Strategy team in Renton, Washington.

Engine strategy plays a key role working with global engine OEM's to ensure alignment of engine technology to Boeing's future airplane needs.

This position will work to understand engine requirements for future airplanes and current airplane improvements. This involves understanding both the technologies engine OEM's are working on and also the airplane needs around fuel burn, thrust, sizing, durability, costs etc.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and makes value trades across these different requirements to find the right balance for market success
  • Analyzes and compares different business models and business proposals up to and including engine selection for future engine deals
  • Work with a team of experienced, multi-disciplinary analysts who partner with Product Development, Propulsion Systems Division, Aircraft Programs, Revenue Management, and Sales and Marketing to identify or analyze product opportunities
  • Participate in negotiations with engine companies (Engineering, programs, supply chain, finance, etc.) on next generation product offerings and existing program commitments
  • Partner with the Propulsion Systems Division in order to determine the strategic actions that need to take place with each engine company to help align their investments with Boeing’s long term strategy
  • Demonstrate an ability to integrate and balance an understanding of airline economics, engine technology, pricing strategies, industry trends and market requirements with airplane attributes and the competitive environment in order to maximize the value of our product offerings
  • Development and coordination of engine requirements and valuation methodology for future new engine studies
  • Simulate engine company business case analyses in support of product studies
  • Provide market insight and actively participate in product development studies

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • 5+ years of relevant aviation company or airline experience.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and advancing projects in ambiguous environments
  • 5+ years of experience preparing and presenting succinctly to executives, senior leadership, and external customers
  • 1+ years of experience critically thinking through hypothesis-driven approaches and performing quantitative analysis on value propositions

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Propulsion experience at an airplane OEM or with an engine company
  • A strong team player, who has the initiative and ability to embrace leadership roles when opportunities arise
  • Experience in strategy development
  • Airline fleet planning, operations, airplane development, propulsion, or airplane market forecasting experience
  • Strong analytic skills with experience using qualitative and quantitative data to develop product, business and services strategies

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only.  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $158,950 - $215,050
