Boeing is hiring a 737NG/MAX Senior Deputy Fleet Chief in Seal Beach, California.  In this position, you will: acquire resources for department activities and lead improvements in safety and quality; develop and administer budgets, schedules and quality/performance standards; oversee approval of technical approaches, products and processes; and inspire, develop, mentor, engage and motivate the team. A strong technical and leadership background is required.

This position supports the global 737NG/MAX Fleet.  This challenging and influential position requires building relationships directly with leaders both internal and external. You will have extensive interface with the 737 Chief Project Engineer, Boeing and customer executive leadership, our domestic and global support teams, and suppliers. You will facilitate Fleet Team calls and meetings for the 737NG/MAX fleet as well as support or lead technical and executive discussions that can be located at Boeing and customer sites.

This role is fast paced and requires quick action, resilience, adaptability and the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and correctly.  Additionally, you will need to be available 24/7 to support our global customers and emergent issues.

Your commitment to safety is critical. You will be an active participant in Boeing’s Safety Management System and Continued Operational Safety Program including Safety Review Board and other technical forums.  In addition, you will drive execution of economic projects that improve reliability, maintenance cost, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Manages employees and first-level managers performing activities within multiple (2 or more) Engineering disciplines.
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site in Seal Beach, CA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 2+ years of experience leading an engineering team in a management capacity
  • Up to 25% travel (domestic and/or international) to integrate with program leaders, customers, suppliers and other organizations

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Proven ability to embrace change, lead continuous improvement, and treat safety and quality as top priorities
  • Experience in customer support
  • Experience leading complex projects
  • Knowledge of industry trends (customers, regulators, competitors, etc.)
  • Willingness and ability to manage ambiguity and turn it into action
  • Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process

Summary Pay Range: $181,900 - $246,100
