Join The Boeing Company’s Space Launch Systems (SLS) team as a Production Engineering Manager at Kennedy Space Center, FL and play a pivotal role in NASA’s mission to return humans to the Moon and beyond. In this critical position, you will lead the Production Engineering efforts for the final integration of the Core Stage—the heart of the most powerful rocket ever built. Your leadership will span Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Planning, Industrial Engineering, Tool Engineering, and Liaison Engineering, ensuring that every component meets the highest standards of quality and performance. This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the success of NASA’s Artemis Program, enabling historic deep space missions that will expand humanity’s reach into the solar system. Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Production Engineering team focused on advancing and continuously improving production processes.
  • Collaborate with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) to enhance and support the production system.
  • Drive key projects to stabilize and optimize production systems and tooling, and manage product and process change integration.
  • Own the production build architecture, applying production simulations and lean principles to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Oversee Design and Build Integration, including the development and coordination of manufacturing build plans.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of the Production System within the SLS Manufacturing Plan, covering safety assessments, build flow, dimensional management, tooling, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Manage final bill of material reconciliation and documentation to support product traceability and quality.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 5+ years of experience in a production environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical or engineering field.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in engineering leadership in aerospace.
  • Production Engineering experience.
  • Material Review Board certification or experience.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners.
  • Master of Science in an engineering discipline.
  • Previous management experience. 
  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.
  • Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
  • Can up-level existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders, and helping underperforming members.
  • Can gain trust of team and provide guidance for their careers.

NASA Access:

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $129,200 - $174,800
