Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks mid and senior level Engineers with experience developing rocket propulsion components, subsystems, and systems to join our team in Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and provide definition of requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems, vehicle fuel systems, and tank systems.
  • Lead development of concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.
  • Lead design, development, test, integration, and operation of rocket propulsion elements of spacecraft and launch vehicles.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize working interfaces between various propulsion system elements and the rest of the vehicle. 
  • Assure propulsion system elements meet customer and regulatory requirements, and that propulsion sub-systems and components meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.
  • Ensure that Rocket Propulsion testing, analysis, modeling, and simulations are applied appropriately and result in acceptable performance and that the definition and performance of certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components are applied appropriately and result in acceptable performance. 
  • Perform operational engineering functions.

To meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite in Kennedy Space Center, FL.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; domestically depending on business needs.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Experience performing Rocket Propulsion development, sustaining engineering or analysis for Launch Vehicles, Spacecraft, Missiles, High Speed aircraft, OR similar vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in rocket propulsion.  (Any mix of years in components, sub-systems, analysis, test, or operations.)
  • Engineering project management or project lead experience.
  • Spacecraft engineering experience.
  • Experience communicating with internal and external customers, ascertaining customer requirements, and successfully meeting them.
  • Solid knowledge of technical requirements and extensive experience and success in meeting them.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.  You must be within commuting distance or relocate at your own expense.

Shift Work:

This position is for 1st shift but may require occasional compensated ad hoc support after hours.

Summary pay range:113,900 – 154,100.
