The Opportunity
Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking a Senior EHS Specialist to join the MQ‑28 Ghost Bat Production Facility build at Wellcamp Toowoomba, QLD.

This is a rare opportunity to work on Boeing's first final assembly facility outside North America and help build a state-of-the-art site that will deliver Australia's first military-designed combat aircraft in more than 50 years and redefine how advanced aircraft are made.

As a Senior EHS Specialist at Boeing you will:

  • Develop and ensure the implementation and review of project construction and WHS management plans for the MQ-28 Wellcamp facility.
  • Develop and oversee construction project inductions and plant onboarding requirements for all personnel including employees, contractors, and visitors.                                                 
  • Advise and support project leadership on aspects relating to EHS legislative and BDA safety management systems requirements.
  • Establish processes and support project leadership to ensure effective WHS consultation across the project scope.
  • Ensure all WHS legislative and BDA internal requirements related to contractor management are being met.
  • Ensure all project EHS events are reported, investigated and records are maintained.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders (PM, site supervisors, contractors, clients and regulators) to coordinate project safety requirements and resolve EHS issues.
  • Oversee the maintenance of safety records, logs and dashboards (inspections, incidents, training, PPE issuance) and prepare regular safety performance reports for management.
  • Support and provide direction to the operational project EHS specialists in the day-to-day requirements of their role.
  • Develop and maintain a construction project risk register.
  • Ensure the development and approval of Safe Work Method Statements for high-risk construction works and ensure identified controls are correctly implemented.
  • Participate in daily pre-start and other safety meetings
  • Ensure all required safety documentation is established and implemented across the construction project scope i.e. permits, training and education.

Who we're looking for

  • Demonstrated experience in dedicated EHS roles within commercial construction.
  • Tertiary qualifications in EHS.
  • Deep understanding of WHS and environmental codes, legislation and risk management methodologies
  • Strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
  • Experience in supplier quality management, audits and corrective action processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical problem solving and clear documentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage site teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills and a drive to mentor others.
  • Valid Construction White Card
  • Willingness to be based at Wellcamp with occasional travel to suppliers and Boeing sites.

Security requirement

  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.

  • This role will commence in May 2026

Contract Length

  • This is a two year fixed term contract commencing in May 2026.
