Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Interiors Certification Engineering Manager (K Level) to lead a high-performing team ensuring the safety and certification of commercial airplane products in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Role Responsibilities :

  • Oversee a team of Payloads Engineering Unit Members (E-UMs)*, E-UMs in training, and support staff.Payloads E-UMs are delegated by the FAA to find compliance in one or more of the following areas: Interior Arrangements, Physical Security, Oxygen Systems, Water & Waste Systems, Evacuation Systems, Cargo Systems, Galley Mechanical Equipment, Fire Containment, Fire Protection, and Flammability.

  • Manage team assignments to support Boeing commitments.

  • Coordinate with design, certification, and production teams to remove roadblocks.

  • Provide coaching and development opportunities that enable team performance and quality.

  • Facilitate resolution of technical or interpersonal issues.

  • Mitigate risk of interference as described by 14 CFR § 183.57 (c) and Title 49 USC § 44742.

  • Recruit and manage the development of new E-UMs to maintain a healthy population.

  • Support maintenance of E-UM credentials through performance reviews, training schedules, & adherence to approved policies/processes.

  • Promote an open, respectful, and collaborative culture across the value stream.

  • Lead and contribute to initiatives that improve the certification system.

  • Support an excellent working-together relationship with our regulators.

  • Support the E-UM Administrator in resolving issues and communicating regulatory policy.

Boeing First-Line Leader Assessment:

To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process.  Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 7+ years of experience in engineering roles with design, integrations and/or certification responsibilites

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”

  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus among stakeholders with differing perspectives

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience within the aerospace industry

  • Exceptional problem solving and technical skills

  • Extensive project management skills

  • Experience working in Payloads or Interiors Engineering design, certification, or integration teams

  • Experience working with E-UMs or other FAA representatives

  • Knowledge of Boeing certification processes

  • Familiarity with Organization Delegation Authorization (ODA) & the Boeing Procedures Manual (BPM)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $137,700 - $186,300
