Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is actively seeking skilled Munition Mechanics to join our team in St. Charles, MO.

In this role, you will be responsible for assembling and integrating advanced munitions systems, including Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) and Small Diameter Bombs (SDB). Your hands-on work will involve critical tasks such as drilling, bonding, soldering, crimping, and installing fasteners and cannon plugs, contributing to the development of cutting-edge guidance systems.

Position Responsibilities:

Assembly and Integration:

  • Assemble, install, bond, repair, and rework mechanical and electrical components, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of components and assemblies to verify proper fit and function before integration into larger systems.

Wiring and Soldering:

  • Perform wire crimping, soldering, and pin insertion/removal on cannon plugs, ensuring secure and reliable connections.
  • Execute installation and removal with precision, maintaining the integrity of the assembly.

Equipment Operation:

  • Operate forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles safely and efficiently to transport materials and components within the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols while operating equipment, including conducting pre-operation checks and routine maintenance.

Testing and Quality Assurance:

  • Assemble, integrate, and test guidance control units, mission computers, guidance kits, and telemetry/flight termination systems, following established testing procedures.
  • Document test results and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the testing phase, collaborating with engineering teams as necessary.

Inventory Management:

  • Supply kits, parts, and units to production and customers, ensuring timely delivery and accurate inventory levels.
  • Manage inventory through receiving, storing, and shipping processes, including maintaining accurate records of stock levels and usage.

Test Equipment Operation:

  • Hook up and operate test equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality before use.
  • Apply stenciling and perform minor paint touch-ups to maintain the appearance and identification of components.

Documentation:

  • Utilize computer systems to document parts receipt, work completion, and inventory management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, including any deviations from standard procedures and corrective actions taken.

Tool Usage:

  • Employ a variety of hand and power tools, calibrated tools, and precision measuring instruments to execute job duties effectively.
  • Ensure tools are maintained in good working condition and report any issues to supervisors.

Housekeeping:

  • Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to "Clean As You Go" practices, ensuring safety and efficiency in the workspace.
  • Participate in regular safety audits and contribute to a culture of safety within the team.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location option.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience using Hand and/or air (pneumatic) tools

  • 1+ year of experience working with precision measuring tools (Torque wrenches, scales, etc.)

  • 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly processes and procedures

  • Proficient utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Must be able to work any shift, overtime and holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience operating a forklift

  • Experience working with military weapon systems

  • Completion of a technical or vocational program in a related field

  • Familiarity with military munitions systems and safety protocols is highly desirable

  • Experience in working with Multi-Discipline teams

Typical Education / Experience:

High school graduate or GED. Prefer a minimum of one (1) or more years of related work experience.

The following Physical Demands may be requirements of this job:

Limited (0-1 Hrs) Crawling, Lying Down (back, front, side), Forceful grasping, Occasional (1-3 Hrs) Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, and supporting up to 35lbs, Bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching, squatting, reaching. The position may have frequent (3-6 hrs) exposure to Noise. Exposure to noise, moving parts and occasional exposure to high/exposed places. Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling up to 35 lbs. Frequent standing, reaching, handling, and turning. Working on elevated and/or uneven surfaces. This position requires eye, hearing and other personal protective equipment, frequent (up to 8 hours) of standing, occasional (1-3 Hrs) climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting and working on ladders. Use of personal protective equipment for face/eyes and ears may be required.

Additional Information:

  • This is an hourly position that is governed by the IAM 837 Collective Bargaining agreement

  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned

  • New Hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. All new employees, rehires without seniority or transfers from outside of IAM 837 jurisdiction, shall be regarded as probationary during their first one hundred twenty (120) calendar days of employment.  Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $22.00/hr. - $44.49/hr.
