The Boeing Company is looking for aMid-Career Material and Process Engineer  to join the Chemical Technology team in Ladson, SC.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Associate, and Experience Engineer.

This role will be focused on supporting innovative aerospace finishes development and implementation. The successful candidate will be energetic; driven; handy in the lab; able to work under general supervision with no instructions for routine work; and able to work special projects with minimal instruction.

Materials, Manufacturing, and Advanced Production (MMAP) is focused on discovering, developing, and transitioning innovative materials/parts and manufacturing technology into Boeing products. Our highly capable workforce excels in a team environment of challenge and opportunity on multiple projects, and partners with Boeing business units, government customers, global suppliers, and universities to rapidly mature key technologies to production readiness.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products.
  • Produces specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes.
  • Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Promotes standardization across business activities.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
  • Develops and qualifies new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements.
  • Integrates new technologies as appropriate.
  • Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
  • Conducts analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes.
  • Implements corrective and preventive actions.
  • Designs, develops and qualifies computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, materials science, physics or chemistry
  • 1+ years of engineering experience in engineering discipline field
  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing environment
  • Experience working as an engineer on a multi-disciplined team with frequent interaction with suppliers and customers

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of engineering experience in engineering discipline field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • 2+ years of experience in paints, coatings, and/or sealant
  • Strong project management skills
  • Familiar with regulated material, material obsolescence, and/or material & process qualification

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range for Associate (Level 2): $91,800 - $124,200

Summary Pay Range for Experience (Level 3): $112,200 - $151,800
