What is your role at Boeing?

I’m a Research Intern, focused on developing simulations and algorithms to support the advancement of electric aircraft. My role involves exploring innovative solutions with electric models, emphasizing sustainability. I'm also working on designing the essential charging infrastructure needed to support a transition in the aviation industry.

How did you hear about our internships?

I first connected with Boeing through a university project collaboration, which was an incredibly positive experience. Inspired by that, I reached out to the team to explore the possibility of further collaboration for my thesis. I was thrilled to find that they had a project that perfectly aligned with my interests.

What excites you the most about Boeing’s mission?

Boeing’s mission truly resonates with me. Being part of the Research team has allowed me to explore new technologies and ideas I hadn’t imagined before. The thought that my work could contribute to transforming air travel is incredibly motivating.

What do you remember most about your first day at Boeing?

I was pleasantly surprised by how relaxed and comfortable I felt. Having previously worked with the team definitely helped ease my nerves. The friendly, humorous colleagues, and welcoming atmosphere, made a strong impression and set a positive tone for my time here.

What has been your favorite experience at your internship so far?

Immersing myself in Boeing’s vibrant company culture. I’ve enjoyed the dynamic team interactions, Friday team breakfasts, and celebrations for special occasions like National Day (a holiday that commemorates the independence of Singapore). The welcoming and engaging spirit at Boeing has made my internship incredibly enjoyable.

How has your internship shaped your career goals?

It has been a pivotal part of my career journey. My internship provided valuable insights into the aviation industry, its current challenges, and future directions. Working on meaningful projects has deepened my technical and operational knowledge and significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth, particularly in problem-solving and building confidence.

What are your tips for accomplishing your best work?

Don’t hesitate to seek help and feedback from your colleagues. Incorporating their input can greatly enhance the quality of your work. Ask for assistance – it helps ensure you stay on track and can effectively overcome challenges.

What advice do you have for students who are interested in interning with us?

There’s a wealth of knowledge and experience at Boeing and taking the time to build relationships and stay curious will make your internship experience even more valuable. Embrace every opportunity to learn from the people around you.
