Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced or Senior Lean Practitioner to support the BDS Lean Organization in San Antonio, TX.  

These roles will be critical in supporting either VC-25A, B-52, or E4B

As a Lean Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in driving Lean initiatives and mindset across the organization. You will be responsible for Lean activities and partnering with stakeholders to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall performance. This position requires an understanding of Lean principles and methodologies, as well as the ability to guide teams and leaders in their Lean journey.

Position Responsibilities – Experienced (Level 3):

  • Connect Lean principles and apply Lean tools that achieve key performance indicator targets
  • Support improvement through innovation and replicate where possible
  • Operationalize data analytics into daily Lean practice and priorities
  • Instruct others in continuous improvement tools and principles -- tailor message to specific audience level
  • Develop and update instructional materials as applicable
  • Lead and facilitates process improvement efforts
  • Develop an integrated strategy and assists with its strategic deployment
  • Apply and integrate improvement processes and tools across the San Antonio Site
  • Assess business capability and capacity

Position Responsibilities – Senior (Level 4):

  • Coach and Facilitate Lean activities and initiatives across various programs & functions
  • Teach and apply applicable lean tools (e.g. Problem solving, Kaizen workshops, 3p, Value Steam mapping, Process mapping, 5s) and process analysis to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop, deploy and execute integrated continuous improvement strategy and assist with its strategic deployment
  • Develop and implement Lean training programs for employees at all levels
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement efforts, facilitate cross-team best-practice sharing, and promote replication of successful process improvements across the organization.
  • Utilize data analysis and metrics to measure the effectiveness of Lean initiatives
  • Coach, Mentor and Educate stakeholders in Lean principles and practices
  • Prepare and present reports on progress and outcomes to management
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in Lean methodologies

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience implementing Lean principles, to include identifying opportunities and making recommendations for value stream improvements that resulted in improved business position through culture transformation
  • 3+ years of experience in Lean events, such as Accelerated Improvement Workshop (AIW) or Value Steam Mapping (VSM) or have you completed a Lean class
  • 3+ years of experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects, transitions, or initiatives

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent work or military experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Knowledge and application of the Boeing Production System (BPS)
  • Previous experience with business case development, stakeholder alignment, benefits capture, and continuous improvements
  • Level 3: 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Level 4: 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

This position may require travel up to 25% of the time domestically

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range:

Experienced (Level 3): 96,050, $129,950

Senior (Level 4): $116,450 – $157,550
