Boeing Mesa Attack Helicopter Rotor System Engineering is seeking a SeniorProduct Review Engineer (Liaison Engineer) level 5 in Coxsackie, NY to support review of AH-64 Apache tail rotor blade manufacturing processes and non-conforming product.

The Apache tail rotor blade is a high performance aerodynamic, light weight, hybrid metallic/composite structure. This is a Boeing full-time on-site first shift engineering position based at the supplier of Apache tail rotor blades, Ducommun at their Coxsackie, NY facility (30 minutes south of Albany, NY). This position will report to the manager of Rotors Engineering for Boeing Vertical Lift – Attack out of Mesa, AZ. Intermittent travel to Mesa, AZ may be required.

Position Responsibilities: 

On-site Boeing engineering lead and will hold primary material review board (MRB) responsibility for dispositioning of non-conforming product at our 1st tier manufacturing supplier of the flight critical Apache tail rotor blade.  This position will entail leading on-site Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities for quality issues interfacing directly with the supplier by providing on-site Boeing engineering support.  This candidate will be responsible for reviewing tooling condition as it relates to part quality, assisting in reviewing and dispositioning of non-conforming product with the Boeing Mesa engineering team, reviewing and enhancing manufacturing planning, spot checking production technician training/skill level, and diagnosing root cause with both composite manufacturing processes (clean room operations, bonded structure, and autoclave operation) as well as metallic forming, riveting, and machining processes.   Candidates applying to this role should demonstrate competencies in composite manufacturing processes and well as have MRB experience in dispositioning composite and/or metallic structures. 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):  (see education and experience for the levels below)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. (Level 5 - Bachelor and typically 14 or more years' related work or Master's and typically 12+ year)

  • 10+ years in an engineering role

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):

  • 10+ years of mechanical or materials engineering experience preferred

  • 10+ years of experience working with composites, bonded metallic structure, or metallic forming preferred

  • 10+ years of liaison engineering experience and Material Review Board (MRB) experience preferred (working closely with manufacturing, design, suppliers, or stakeholders)

  • 5+ years of demonstrable Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) experience

  • 7+ years of experience in engineering in a manufacturing support role (troubleshooting, process improvement, production support)

  • 7+ years developing materials and process specification documents for manufacturing builds of composite and/or bonded metal products

  • Strong knowledge of product inspection, failure analysis, and process controls for composite and metallic structures

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation for MRB dispositions and materials/process specifications

  • Experience with relevant industry standards, quality systems, and manufacturing best practices (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP) preferred

 Typical Education/Experience: 

Level 5 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work or Master's and typically 12+ years. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range (level 5): $144,500 - $195,500
