Are you ready to elevate your career and make a meaningful impact? We are seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Avionics to join our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services team at RAAF Base Amberley. In this exciting role, you will support the EA-18G Growler and work alongside the Australian Defence Force, united in our mission to ensure aircraft readiness for critical tasks. 

We are seeking an experienced Aviation Maintenance (145 / MRO) Professional as we establish an ALQ-99 Intermediate Level Maintenance (ILM) Capability.  The ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System (TJS) is the EA-18G's primary non-kinetic weapons system providing critical effects in support of Air, Sea, and Land units. 

Your expertise will be essential in keeping the ALQ-99 TJS operational, and you'll take pride in knowing your work directly contributes to the safety and effectiveness of the Australian Defence Force. If you have a Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics) with at least two years of experience, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Your knowledge of Aviation Quality Assurance procedures and experience as a maintenance certifier or trade supervisor will make you an asset to our team.

In this fulfilling position, you will report to the ALQ-99 manager, coordinate maintenance tasks, sign for completed work, and assist with the operation of the ALQ-99 facility. Persons applying for this position will be required to undertake initial 3 months ALQ-99 training with a follow-on period of On the Job (OJT) training for period of up to 9 months in Whidbey Island USA. ALQ-99 ILM AV technicians will be required to support annual training exercises and operations within Australia and Internationally.

What you need to know 

  • Fortnightly wage: Starting from $3576.70 (AME2), Allowances as applicable, plusSuperannuation, based on experience.
  • Roster: day shift Monday to Friday with an early finish on Fridays.
  • Allowances provided as necessary, including Per Diems for travel-related expenses.
  • Parking and canteen facilities available onsite.
  • Relocation assistance available for the right applicant.

Key Responsibilities for Success in This Role

  • Coordination: Consultation and execution of ALQ-99 ILM task prioritisation per Commonwealth requirements.
  • Task Completion: Perform maintenance tasks on the ALQ-99 TJS and its sub-assemblies.
  • Task Sign-Off: Sign for completed tasks using the electronic maintenance system.
  • SME Support: Provide expertise on ALQ-99 TJS and associated S& TE trouble shooting.
  • Inventory Management: Ensuring serviceable ALQ-99 Pods are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Documentation: Keep and update records on an enterprise tracking tool relating to ALQ-99 servicebility.
  • Safety Standards: Uphold WHS practices in the ALQ-99 Maintenance Facilities and report issues.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate maintenance records for ALQ-99 Maintenance Facilities.

Necessary requirements

  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics)
  • C class driver's license.
  • Australian Citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 clearance.
