Systems Engineer - Senior Level

Why This is an Exciting Role:

As a Systems Engineer - Senior Level at Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A), you will be responsible for:

  • Innovating RF signal processing applications
  • Providing technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of specific components of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures, and performing technical/non-technical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis
  • Developing comprehensive SOA solutions
  • Developing operational views, technical standards views, and system and services views for architectures using applicable Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) standards
  • Maintaining knowledge of current and evolving agency, national, and international standards applicable to the system development of interest
  • Using validated models, simulations, and prototyping to mitigate risk and reduce cost of system development
  • Monitoring risks using Earned Value Management (EVM) data
  • Developing alternative courses of action, workarounds, and fallback positions with a recommended course of action for each risk and monitor and re-evaluate risks at appropriate milestones
  • Developing system design alternatives that consider life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, system expansion, and growth
  • Conducting end-to-end program and end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system operations over the system's lifecycle
  • Fully defining software interfaces in terms of origination, destination, stimulus, and data characteristics
  • Fully defining hardware interfaces in terms of electrical and mechanical characteristics
  • Applying and enforcing use of suitable standards to ensure consistency and interoperability of developer hardware and software
  • Improvingsystem standard integration strategies based upon rationale for previous decisions that resulted in improved integration performance
  • Ensuring effective, periodic review and control of the evolving configuration of a system, both hardware and software components and associated documentation, during the life of the system
  • Serving as a member of a Configuration Control Board (CCB)
  • Participating in Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) efforts, recommending preferred solutions based on selection criteria adjusted for reasonableness and validity of assumptions, technology limitations, environmental impact, and lifecycle costs

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:  

Required Education and Years of Experience:

  • Twenty (20) years of experience as a systems engineer in medium-scale (20-100 people) or larger programs or contracts
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree

Required Qualifications: ​

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence or similar project management tools
  • Proficiency with Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or similar SysML tools
  • Experience deriving an understanding of stakeholder needs and essential system functions from system requirements


Desired Qualifications: ​

  • INCOSE ASEP or similar systems engineering certification
  • Experience developing technical documentation
  • Experience developing system architecture and system design documentation

Contingent Upon Program Reward

The position is contingent upon program award.

Summary Pay Range:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

$168,500 - $198,500
