Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Heat Treat Batteryperson A Aluminum, to join our Fabrication team in Auburn, Washington.

Join our dedicated team as a Heat Treat Batteryperson A Aluminum, where you will independently set up and operate heat treating and annealing equipment, meticulously following specifications to achieve optimal results. Your attention to detail will guide you in stacking and spacing materials for uniform heating while monitoring oven operations to prevent warpage. You will lead and mentor lower-classified employees, sharing your knowledge of best practices and safety protocols. Your proactive approach to documenting processes and handling hazardous materials will contribute to a safe and efficient work environment. Position Responsibilities:

  • Refer to specifications to determine methods and temperatures required for heat treating and annealing processes.

  • Stack and space parts and materials to ensure uniform heating and minimize warpage.

  • Record loading data and pertinent information in the SMARTS system, including material type and oven details.

  • Operate handling equipment, such as overhead cranes and forklifts, to load and unload tanks and ovens.

  • Perform quenching operations and rinsing of heat-treated parts according to specifications.

  • Operate annealing and age hardening equipment, ensuring proper settings and monitoring.

  • Lead and provide guidance to lower-classified employees, sharing information and best practices.

  • Monitor heat treat and age hardening ovens, checking processes such as temperature and recording charts.

  • Review work orders to determine the processes required for production parts or raw materials.

  • Ensure that parts are counted and tagged according to work orders and specifications.

  • Use scissor lifts to access work areas safely and efficiently for up to two hours as required.

  • Perform correct loading and racking techniques to secure parts and ensure uniform heating.

  • Document all operations in the Common Manufacturing Execution System (CMES) and ensure compliance with BAC specifications.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to provide support to other locations based on business needs and will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience using Microsoft Suite.

  • Experience using basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.)

  • 1+ years of experience in working with databases and interpreting data.

  • Able to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Metals (aluminum, brass, iron, monel, nickel, steel, solder, titanium.)

  • Experience working in Extreme Heat (ovens and furnaces.)

  • Able to work 2nd shift & extended hours with short notice if needed to cover absences or adjoining shifts.

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Summary pay range: $26.32 - $56.36
