Fabrication is the backbone of commercial airplane production — a global team of more than 17,000 people taking materials like metal, composites and wires and turning them into safe, high-quality aircraft components every day.

We’re seeking a Mid-level Communications & Brand Specialist to join Commercial Airplanes Fabrication and help share the stories of the people, skills and processes that make this work possible. You’ll support multiple fabrication sites (Auburn, WA, Frederickson, WA, and Portland, OR), partner with site leaders and subject-matter experts, and create clear, credible and compelling communications that engage teammates, celebrate craftsmanship, and drive pride and alignment across the global Fabrication community.

Please note: This role is based in Puget Sound and will work onsite the majority of the time in Auburn, WA. The selected candidate must live in or relocate to the area.

This role works closely with numerous vice presidents and cross-functional teams to showcase the essential work of our Fabrication team and their critical role in commercial airplane production.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Fabrication leaders and cross-functional teams to develop and deliver communications tailored to support Boeing Commercial Airplanes as well as site goals and objectives.

  • Create content across channels — site newsletters, intranet features, talking points, site signage, videos, photo stories and social/digital assets — that translate technical, production and safety topics into engaging messages for employees.

  • Lead communications planning and execution for site events, high-profile site visits, employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs and operational updates; manage logistics, messaging and stakeholder alignment.

  • Serve as a trusted counsel for site leaders to ensure consistent internal awareness and protect Boeing’s reputation.

  • Measure impact of communications and continuously refine approaches to maximize employee understanding, engagement and business value as well as positively impact employee engagement and reflect Boeing’s values and behaviors.

  • Manage external communications including media relations, social media and other digital external platforms in collaboration with the External communications team. This includes planning the promotion of stories and/or evaluating the merit of media inquiries about the sites to help determine the appropriate response.

  • Anticipate, plan for and manage issues facing the Auburn, Frederickson and Portland sites; serve as the primary subject matter expert, and public information officer for the sites as well as the site crisis communications focal.

As a member of the broader Commercial Airplanes’ Communications & Brand team, this role also serves as a strong team member supporting other team-focused initiatives and communications.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience producing, writing, and editing communications plans, strategies and deliverables.

  • Capable of distilling complex, technical and abstract concepts into concise messaging and stories through clear and compelling narrative.

  • Experience developing and measuring strategic communications, including leader messages, internal stories, web and social media content.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Demonstrated exceptional strategic, written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to persuade and motivate to action.

  • Interest in manufacturing/fabrication/supply chain processes and innovation

  • Experience in corporate communications, public relations agency or news media

  • Experience supporting executives and/or senior leaders

  • Video production and editing skills are strongly desired

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $93,500 - $126,500
