Boeing Commercial Airlines is excited to offer opportunities for a Surface Finish & Assembly Technician to join our Fabrication team in Auburn, Algona, and Puyallup, Washington.

Join our team as a Surface Finish & Assembly Technician. In this pivotal role, you will perform complete surface finishing of machined parts while expertly assembling various aircraft components and installing critical hardware. Your attention to detail will guide you as you utilize precision measuring instruments to verify compliance with specifications and diagnose any discrepancies that arise. You will engage in a variety of machining tasks, from drilling and reaming to shot peening, all while adhering to established procedures. Your proactive approach to maintaining tools and equipment, along with your commitment to safety and proper handling of hazardous materials, will contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional aerospace solutions. Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform complete surface finishing of machined parts to meet specified quality standards.

  • Assemble precision aircraft parts and install hardware and fittings such as nuts, bolts, and brackets according to established procedures.

  • Use precision measuring instruments to ensure that all work meets quality requirements and specifications.

  • Diagnose and correct discrepancies in parts and assemblies as needed.

  • Perform various machining tasks, including drilling, reaming, filing, and tapping, to accomplish work assignments.

  • Communicate and process all necessary quality procedures related to the work performed.

  • Obtain work assignments from the Large Scale Data Integration (LSDI) system and prioritize tasks based on scheduling.

  • Select and maintain proper tooling and equipment necessary for completing scheduled work assignments.

  • Perform routine maintenance on hand and power tools to ensure they are in good working condition.

  • Use mathematical formulas to verify hole locations and ensure compliance with specifications.

  • Prepare edges and blend surfaces for shot peening, as well as perform shot peening and rotopeening on parts.

  • Perform cold work processes on holes and install bushings using Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) per specifications.

  • Document any failed parts and discrepancies found during assembly in the appropriate system.

  • Ensure proper torque specifications are met for fasteners using calibrated torque wrenches.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and maintain personal certifications.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift.

  • Experience with reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematic and diagrams

  • Experience using precision Measuring tools

  • Ability to understand Basic Math

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in noisy environments while completing tasks

Typical Education & Experience:

  • High school graduate or GED preferred.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $25.00 - $49.92 per hour
