Boeing Data Analytics team is looking for Data Product Engineer to help build cloud-based Data Products. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing IT&DA goals of developing cloud native applications/adopting multi-cloud strategy.

Good communication skills are needed both verbally and written, to Interact with peers and customers. Job requires the ability to work well with others on a team as well as independently. Job requires working within a diverse team of skilled and motivated co-workers to collaborate on results. Other qualities for this candidate are a positive attitude, self-motivated, the ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

This role will be based out of Bangalore, India.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design enterprise semantic models and ontologies to make data understandable and consumable across business functions.
  • Translate business use cases and stakeholder requirements into reusable semantic layers, canonical metrics, and metric-store definitions.
  • Own the design, implementation, and operation of a production metric store (definitions, storage, lineage, access controls, quality checks).
  • Strong hands on experience in building semantic models - DBT is preferred (or equivalent metric store frameworks)
  • Define and enforce semantic-layer and metric governance: naming standards, metric definitions, versioning, testing, and lineage.
  • Build and maintain metadata and lineage integrations to support traceability and trust in metrics.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, product, and platform teams to embed semantic artifacts into data pipelines and analytics.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship; run design reviews and evangelize semantic best practices.
  • Validate metric correctness with owners and implement automated metric tests and monitoring.
  • Stay current on industry trends (metric stores, knowledge graphs, semantic layers) and recommend pragmatic tool choices.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION
  • 8+ years of experience as a data engineer. Strong understanding of Semantic Modeling, Data Products, and datalake. 
  • Proven experience in data modeling, particularly for semantic layers in a business-facing role.
  • Strong understanding of data products and their applications within a data lake house architecture.
  • Experience in developing a metric store with knowledge graph capabilities to enhance data quality and lineage.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering actionable insights.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, specifically in implementing Data Zone and related services.
  • Hands-on experience with any ontology tools such as dbt Labs, QuickSight, AtScale, or DataWalk.

Typical Education & Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor’s) and typically 9+ years of related work experience or Master’s Degree with 8+ years of related work experience.
