Position Description

Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre is currently looking for Lead/Senior Manufacturing Engineer’s to join their team in Bangalore, India. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services (BGS) business organization. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be part of a global team working on providing ME solutions to a wide range of Boeing products and services across the world. 

Manufacturing engineering (ME) function is responsible for translating the design definitions into physical products. ME activities would span across the life cycle of a product including but not limited to understanding of the design requirements, raw materials, fabrication, sequence of build, quality and validation of the final product.

A successful candidate in this role is expected to lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers in the preparation of build plan artifacts, tooling review, engineering analysis, authoring work instructions and managing manufacturing bill of materials. The incumbent shall have a good understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes. aerospace materials and interpreting design definitions. The position offers opportunities for working closely with US spares engineering groups, suppliers and material groups to ensure the spares review is done most effectively thereby ensuring best value for our customers.  Be a part of our passionate and motivated team that always keep an eye on identifying potential opportunities to improve and standardize the assembly process for our diverse range of products.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple scopes for manufacturability for complex manufacturing processes.
  • Mentor peers to develop team capabilities.
  • Initiate assignments and determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work is checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than formal review by a superior.
  • Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious.
  • Serve as an organizational spokesperson on advanced projects and programs. Act as an advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies.
  • Develop advanced technical ideas and guide their development into final products. Erroneous decisions or recommendations could typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and affect the organization's technological capability and image.
  • Apply advanced job principles, theories, and concepts. Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts, as well as advanced job practices, techniques, and standards. Be recognized as a job expert within the company.
  • Coach the team to author and modify fabrication plans (for aircraft assemblies).
  • Standardize existing manufacturing work instructions.
  • Guide the team in the implementation of manufacturing plans and assist in technical problem-solving.
  • Review existing assembly processes and drive process improvements.
  • Exercise critical thinking and innovative problem-solving.
  • Lead the development and implementation of production and tooling methodologies.
  • Lead the development, identification, and implementation of conceptual designs and maintenance of the program architecture for build.
  • Proactively seek information and direction to complete the statement of work successfully. Meet assigned production schedules and deadlines.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to the team during project execution.
  • Mentor and develop the team on emergent skill requirements. Mentor the team on relevant industry standards and best practices.
  • Lead the implementation of lean principles and technologies.
  • Interface with Integrated Product Teams and internal customers to develop products, skills, knowledge, and experience.
  • Resolve technical problems of significant impact on performance, cost, or schedule.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple subject areas.
  • Coordinate training and capability development for the BGS ME team.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical/ Production/ Aerospace Engineering is required as a Basic Qualification.
  • 12+ years of work experience in aerospace manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team of manufacturing engineers
  • Experience with creation of manufacturing planning and authoring assembly work instructions.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge with ME execution systems CAPP/MES
  • Strong written, oral, and Business presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and familiar with MS Office tools.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Candidate should have hands-on experience with Manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Proficient with GD&T

Typical Education & Experience:

Degree and Typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical/Aerospace/Aeronautical/equivalent) with 12+ years or Masters’ with 11+ years of experience.
