Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) is based in Bangalore, India and is engaged in the development of advanced aerospace and aviation technologies and software products. We have an immediate opening for a Software Engineering Manager to lead multiple teams developing digital solutions related to Application Engineering. This position will report to the Engineering leader of the Boeing Global Services (BGS) Digital Services group within BIETC and work closely with stakeholders across the globe.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or higher as a Basic Qualification
  • Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree with 15 to 18 years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated Software Engineering experience with involvement in all phases of the software development life cycle using various software development platforms
  • Experience in Flight Management Systems and Aircraft performance computation/optimization
  • Experience with Matlab/Python scripting
  • Experience in Machine learning and data analytics
  • Experience in Deep Learning and Neural Network models

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Prior experience Flight Plan/Optimization, Aircraft Fuel planning and optimization, expertise in Lateral and Vertical flight planning, Air Traffic Management.
  • Experience related to EFB/Flight Deck applications
  • Prior experience related to Aircraft Performance computation/optimization, Tail Specific Performance computations using big data analytics, AI/ML, Agentic AI, and modeling.
  • Exposure to Flight Data Monitoring and Flight Data Analytics
  • Familiarity with airplane avionics, network protocols and airplane system integration
  • Assists in the facilitation of team meetings across time zones
  • Delivers informative, well-organized presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written English, including grammar
  • Problem Solving
  • Identifies critical issues with ease
  • Exhibits confidence and extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems
  • Must have experience working with cross-functional teams spread across multiple products
  • Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with partners from within Boeing and outside, across different cultures and time-zones
  • Pushes creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mindset

Typical Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree and 13+ years of related work experience OR Master of Engineering and 12+ years of related experience.

  • Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of software development methodologies, programming languages, and cloud technologies relevant to digital product development.

  • Domain Driven Design: Good understanding of domain driven design to influence and direct the team as needed.

Process Skills and Techniques

  • Project Management: Proficiency in managing projects and customer milestones, including planning, resource allocation, risk management, and ensuring timely delivery of products and capabilities.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, to facilitate iterative and incremental development.
  • Quality Assurance: Knowledge of quality assurance processes and methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, bug-free digital products.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Adept at identifying and resolving technical challenges and issues that may arise during the development process.

  • Leadership and influence: The ability to lead and motivate a team of developers, designers, and other technical professionals to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.
