The Boeing Occupational Health Clinic delivers medical care for employees’ work-related injuries and illnesses and required occupational health exams, including diagnostic testing and treatments (wound care, immunizations, phlebotomy, vision/hearing screens, drug testing, spirometry), regulatory-compliant documentation, and coordination of return-to-work and referrals.

The Lead Nurse provides clinical and programmatic leadership for occupational health at the Berkeley, MO site. Responsibilities include direct nursing care and triage, oversight of medical surveillance and daily clinic operations, development of policies and training, quality and continuous‑improvement initiatives, and coordination of complex cases (workers’ compensation, fitness‑for‑duty, return‑to‑work). The Lead Nurse also advises employees, managers, Safety, HR, and external providers, analyzes health data to reduce risk and improve program performance, and acts as a skilled communicator and team builder delivering strong customer service.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands on nursing assessment, triage, treatment and education; obtain history, determine urgency, and perform focused exams per scope and site protocols

  • Deliver treatments under advanced practice/physician directives (medications, immunizations, wound care, IV starts, orthopedic appliances); provide discharge and follow up instructions

  • Perform and interpret occupational diagnostic testing (EKG, spirometry/PFT, phlebotomy, blood glucose, audiograms, vision screens, vitals) and drug free workplace specimen collection

  • Coordinate case management: return to work planning, fitness for duty evaluations, work restrictions and accommodations per legal and company requirements

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to resolve employee health concerns (i.e. Safety, EHS, HR, ergonomics, Workers’ Compensation, clinical providers)

  • Analyze outcomes and trends from multiple data sources to evaluate program performance, identify risks, and recommend prevention strategies

  • Participate in review and development of clinical policies, protocols and QA processes at site and enterprise levels to maintain compliance (OSHA, HIPAA, ADA, state/federal)

  • Design and deliver clinical training and competency verification (CPR, first aid, bloodborne pathogens, site drills)

  • Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in Boeing systems per company and regulatory requirements

  • Provide travel medicine consults and wellness program support as needed

  • Team Leadership and Continuous Improvement

    • Serve as point of contact for clinical and operational issues and facilitate cross shift/functional communication

    • Coach, mentor and onboard staff; assign/prioritize daily work and support shift handoffs

    • Build team capability and a healthy work environment through coaching and mentoring

    • Lead continuous improvement and problem solving to optimize team performance and KPIs; incorporate LEAN practices

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • On‑site clinical setting; typical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, and occasional lifting of medical supplies/equipment

  • Standard business hour coverage; availability for occasional off‑shift or emergency response as site needs dictate

  • Must comply with site safety and immunization requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in Missouri

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • 5+ years clinical nursing experience

  • 3+ years with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • COHN/COHN‑S certification

  • 1+ years emergency room, urgent care, acute care experience

  • 1+ years occupational/employee health experience

  • Experience leading clinic staff and managing clinical programs within a large employer, healthcare organization, or industrial/ manufacturing setting

  • Workers’ compensation case management, fitness for duty, OSHA experience

Summary pay range: $116,450 - $157,550
