Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Senior/Lead Project Engineer to join the Flight Simulation Labs in Berkeley, MO.

The Flight Simulation Labs organization has expertise supporting marketing, design, development, integration, test and training objectives for Boeing military aircraft. As a project engineer, you will provide leadership for the development and execution of such programs as T-7, F-15, F-18, and MQ-25.

As a project engineer, you will collaborate with stakeholders and teams to ensure safety, quality, and compliance throughout all phases of Flight Simulation Labs projects and teams. You will maintain open communication with leadership, drive process improvements, and monitor compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS). In a dynamic environment, the engineer will lead quality initiatives, educate team members on quality and safety, and integrate technical and business inputs into quality plans. Additionally, they will assign responsibilities, generate quality estimates. and evaluate project performance against established quality metrics.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders and teams to oversee quality assurance throughout the design, procurement, construction, integration, and testing phases of Flight Simulation Labs projects
  • Maintain regular and direct communication with stakeholders and Flight Simulation Labs leadership
  • Champion process improvements and facilitate problem resolution to enhance overall safety, quality, and compliance throughout the organization
  • Monitor compliance to the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment, actively engaging with multiple teams and responding promptly to critical issues and requests
  • Lead quality assurance initiatives by identifying necessary activities and resources to achieve quality standards
  • Coordinate, educate, and guide team members on quality, compliance, and safety matters
  • Integrate technical, business, and leadership inputs in the development and implementation of quality plans and processes
  • Assign quality-related responsibilities to team members
  • Generate quality estimates to support Earned Value Management (EVM) while serving as a Cost Account Manager (CAM)
  • Evaluate project performance by comparing actual results against baseline quality plans, assessing efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned
  • Identify and monitor performance metrics associated with quality assurance

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 5% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Level 4: 9+ years of working experience with a Bachelor’s OR 7+ years with a Masters OR 4+ years with a PhD
  • Level 5: 14+ years of working experience with a Bachelor’s OR 12+ years with a Masters OR 9+ years with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in project management or project scheduling
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team or a project
  • 3+ years of experience in building relationships with internal and/or external stakeholders
  • 3+ Proven experience or passion for safety, quality, and compliance
  • 3+ years of experience in avionics, electrical, mechanical, and/or mission systems roles.
  • 2+ years of experience with CAM (Cost Account Manager) in EVM (Earned Value Management)
  • Experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills
  • Experience in process improvements
  • Experience with U.S. Navy and Air Force customers
  • Experience in Agile Methodologies and tools
  • Participation in every phase of a product lifecycle (e.g., requirements definition, systems design, systems development, systems integration, systems test, and systems support)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range Level 4: $114,750 - $155250

Summary pay range Level 5: $140,250 - $189,750
