The Boeing Company is currently seeking Software Engineers–Systems (Associate or Experienced) (Virtual) to support our Emulation team located in Berkeley, Missouri. This position will focus on supporting the Enterprise Software Verticals (ESV) organization.

The Boeing Software Systems Engineering Team is seeking an Associate or Experienced Software Systems Engineer to support the design, development, analysis, and maintenance of software systems that meet industry, customer, and internal quality, safety, security, and certification standards. This role is critical in ensuring that our software solutions align with the needs of various Boeing projects across Commercial Airplanes, Defense, Space platforms, training systems, and autonomous platforms.

In this position, you will lead program engagement, working closely with end users and customers to ensure their needs are met throughout the software development lifecycle. You will be responsible for tracking progress and risks for each project, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on numerous high-impact projects, collaborating with various teams across Boeing to deliver critical software solutions that support our mission in commercial aviation, defense, space exploration, and advanced training systems.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to inform system definitions and translate system-level requirements into software requirements and models. You will conduct system-level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities, integrating and deploying mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle. Your contributions will include performing code reviews, monitoring test completion, and developing user documentation and training to educate end users about software products.

As a member of our team, you will engage with various functional teams, including Firmware, Electrical, Hardware, and System Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT), to ensure successful integration and delivery of software solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects while supporting the development of high-quality software systems.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, analyzes, and maintains software systems that meet industry, customer, and internal quality, safety, security and certification standards.

  • Partners with appropriate stakeholders to inform system definition and translate system-level requirements into software requirements and models that meet customer, operational needs, performance requirements and have clear traceability to design, code and test artifacts.

  • Completes software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues and opportunities; integrates and deploys mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.

  • Performs code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards.

  • Monitors and reviews test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for software systems.

  • Develops user documentation and training to educate end users about usage of software products.

  • Reviews product and process for alignment with project plans and industry standards by tracking and evaluating internal team and supplier performance.

  • Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development.

  • Performs software project management and software supplier management activities.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Secret clearance, final post-start

  • 2+ years of experience in testing or programming software written in C or C++

  • 2+ years of experience with software development on Windows or Linux

  • 2+ years of experience in metrics, planning, and agile methods

  • 2+ years of experience in a customer facing role engaging with internal and/or external customers

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

  • Knowledge of company, state, federal and/or international compliance regulations (e.g. import/export, intellectual properties, International Standards Organization [ISO], Federal Aviation Administration [FAA], Joint Aviation Authorities [JAA], International Civil Aviation Organization [ICAO], International Traffic In Arms Regulations [ITAR]).

  • Knowledge of customer's/supplier's organization, processes, policies and procedures, products, requirements, capabilities, practices, support resources, preferences, constraints, etc.

  • Knowledge of engineering discipline(s) (e.g., electrical, mechanical, software engineering) applied to product related systems (e.g., aircraft, avionics, propulsion, spacecraft, information/ communication systems) throughout the product development life cycle, from concept development to deployment.

  • Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes. Understanding of relationship between specifications/standards and aircraft/product certification systems.

  • Knowledge of product lifecycle, including manufacturing, deployment, modification, aging and continued service, and disposal.

  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices in the development, testing, and deployment of software.

  • Knowledge of implementation, validation, and verification processes, practices, and guidelines to ensure software development quality, performance, and safety.

  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range for Associate Level: $86,700 - $117,300

Summary pay range for Experienced Level: $107,100 - $144,900
