The Specialty Materials and Integration Team is looking for a Technical Analyst Painter to provide Materials and Process, Research and Development support to Boeing Defense Systems development programs. We are seeking a highly motivated, and energetic technician with excellent attention to detail to support our materials, paint, and sealant production lines. The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) team, Specialty Materials and Integration, is located in the greater St. Louis area in Berkeley, Missouri. 


This group is responsible for providing Materials and Processes (M&P) support to Boeing Defense Systems development programs.  We are also responsible for leading materials production efforts (typically non-metallic) as well as identifying, developing, and transitioning specialty materials and technologies to platforms within Boeing Defense Systems.  Become part of a dynamic and rich learning organization and experience engineering at its best.

This group is responsible for leading the material production for next generation material solutions (mainly paints and sealants). We are also responsible for identifying, developing, transitioning, and producing highly specialized materials and technologies for platforms within Boeing Defense Systems. Position Responsibilities:

  • Mixing and formulation of specialty coatings, sealants, and other various materials

  • Operation of scales and mixing equipment

  • Operation of dispensing equipment

  • Operation of autoclaves and ovens

  • Inspection of applied coatings using test equipment such as micrometers and analytical test equipment including gloss meters and surface profilometers

  • Operates a variety of equipment and learns new processes and manufacturing procedures in a production environment

  • Works as part of a multi-disciplined integrated product team, working alongside other skilled technicians, engineers, and support staff to deliver materials to advanced programs

  • Assists in test development, routine analysis of failed parts and processes, generation of data to evaluate failed mechanisms and documentation of findings

  • Assists in developing and revising documents and technical requirements

  • Participates in the evaluation and qualification of materials, suppliers, equipment, technology and processes to ensure that conformance and producibility requirements are met

  • Supports continuous improvement efforts by assisting with the design, fabrication and testing of new concepts and technology

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with paints, coatings, and sealants

  • Experience weighing and mixing materials

  • Experience with aerospace paint systems, coating suppliers, and aerospace paint industry specifications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with either production painting or Research & Development painting

  • Experience spraying specialty coatings

  • Experience with robotic paint application

  • Experience mixing and formulating paints and/or sealants

  • Experience using High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) and or electrostatic spray gun equipment

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range for associate (level 2): $52,700 - $71,300

Summary pay range for mid-level (level 3): $61,200 - $82,800

Summary pay range for senior (level 4): $73,100 - $98,900
