The Opportunity

BDA is looking for a MQ-28PrincipalArmament Engineer who will join the MQ-28 Engineering team. In this role you will have the opportunity to utilise your armament engineering integration and certification knowledge and expertise to support the MQ-28 Ghost Bat.

This role can be undertaken in Brisbane.

As a MQ-28PrincipalArmament Engineer within BDA, you will:

  • Undertake engineering and project management related activities to deliver new and upgraded weapons and stores capabilities for the MQ-28.
  • Liaise with Defence and US agencies to coordinate the delivery of services and artefacts to support the local introduction and airworthiness authorisation of new and modified weapon configurations.
  • Assess the integration of new and modified stores against Aircraft Stores Compatibility engineering requirements and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to the required outcomes.
  • Support and engage in developmental testing and trials involving new or modified weapons.
  • Manage platform service release activities related to aircraft stores.
  • Engage with platform upgrade projects and capability representatives to integrate weapons and stores activities into broader capability upgrades and management activities.
  • Work as a senior member of the engineering team providing guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and fostering growth in technical expertise and engineering judgment within the stores clearance discipline.
  • Work with the System Safety team to analyse, develop and review system hazards for stores and weapons.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in either Mechanical, Aerospace, Avionics, Mechatronics or Chemical Engineering, that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust).
  • Previous experience in armament and stores, aircraft operational systems and aviation engineering processes and other related engineering experience is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in developing/reviewing and approving engineering artefacts within the Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) environment is highly desirable.
  • Capability to gain Engineering Designations on relevant platforms.
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or eligibility to obtain.
