Test Lead – Aerospace, Defence & Manufacturing

Location:Boeing AustraliaBrisbane - Hybrid

Position Summary:


Boeing Australia is seeking an experienced Test Lead to lead structured application testing for critical corporate systems such as Payroll, HR, and ERP within the aerospace, defence services, and manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing testing in regulated industries, with a focus on compliance, security, and quality standards relevant to aerospace and defence manufacturing.

This role will drive the implementation of test management tools like Azure DevOps (ADO) Test Planning and test automation frameworks such as Selenium, ensuring repeatable, auditable, and efficient testing processes.

Leadership skills are essential to manage and mentor junior test analysts and automation developers in a secure and compliance-driven environment.

Due to the International nature of the role and business as a whole, there may be the requirement to support after hours meetings and calls, however flexibility is encouraged. Some domestic travel may be required

About the Role:

  • Lead and manage structured testing activities for corporate systems (Payroll, HR, ERP) supporting aerospace and defence manufacturing and commercial airplane fabrication and assembly operations.

  • Ensure testing processes comply with relevant industry regulations and organizational security policies.

  • Implement and promote the use of Azure DevOps (ADO) Test Planning to enable structured, repeatable, and traceable testing aligned with governance frameworks.

  • Design, implement, and maintain test automation frameworks using Selenium or similar tools to improve test efficiency and coverage.

  • Manage and mentor a team of junior test analysts and test automation developers, fostering a culture of quality, security, and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with business units, IT, cybersecurity, and program teams to align testing strategies with operational and compliance requirements.

  • Monitor and report on testing progress, risks, and quality metrics to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Support cybersecurity and information protection standards by ensuring testing activities safeguard sensitive and regulated information.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing methodologies, tools, and processes within the aerospace and defence context.

Basic Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) 

  • Proven experience managing structured application testing in regulated industries, preferably aerospace, defence, or manufacturing.

  • Strong knowledge of test management tools, especially Azure DevOps (ADO) Test Planning.

  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium.

  • Understanding of security policies and compliance requirements relevant to aerospace and defence sectors.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing lifecycle (STLC) in complex, regulated environments.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field

  • Experience working within aerospace, defence, or government contracting environments

  • Knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices
