The Opportunity

The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat is a globally significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities.  As we continue to accelerate the development program and expand the aircraft flight envelope through the test program, we are seeking the very best talent from a diverse range of backgrounds to help grow and contribute to our innovative team.

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are seeking a talented Technical Publications Team Lead to join our MQ-28 team. You will be working as a Technical Publications Lead, Coordinator and technical writer, helping progress the planning and coordination for the update, review and release of multiple technical publications and processes.

This role can be based in Brisbane or Amberley.

As a Technical Publications Team Lead, you will:

  • Lead a team dedicated to the development of various technical publication elements compliant with requirements under the contract and in accordance with approved plans.
  • Conduct quality assurance and in-process reviews, validating the accuracy of technical publications, present to senior program stakeholders including CENG, PMs and Customer Integrated Product Support Managers.
  • Contribute to the Development of procedural guidelines to ensure that newly established work practices are accurately documented and consistently applied.
  • Support the creation of high-quality technical data, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination, and monitoring of Technical Publications personnel and resources to identify efficiencies and maintain adherence to schedules, metrics, and reporting requirements. Earned Value Management reporting.
  • Mentoring, coaching and development of technical publications team members, logistic support analysts to ensure alignment between disciplines.

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience leading a technical publications team
  • Proven experience in producing publication elements using XML or SGML.
  • Proficiency with technical publication authoring tools, including Arbortext, NotePad++, and Spectrum S1000D.
  • Experience in utilising technical publication and software comparison data manipulation tools, such as Beyond Compare and the Adobe Suite.
  • Experience in creating technical publications for all levels of operations and maintenance for both new and fielded major equipment systems and fully conversant in

    • DEF(AUST)5692 - Logistics Support Analysis Record Requirements for the Australian Defence Organisation Defence Standard
    • DEF (AUST) IPS - 5630 Developing S1000D Interactive Electronic Technical Publications
    • ADFP 102 - Defence Writing Standards
    • AAP 5030.001 - Defence Aviation and Australian Air Publication Systems And Specifications Manual
    • S1000D - International Specification for Technical Publications Using a Common Source Database
    • S3000L - International Specification for Logistics Support Analysis
    • ASD Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100)
    • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance of NV1 (minimum).
