Position Overview:
Boeing Technical Publications team is currently looking for an ExperiencedSupport Engineering Data Specialist to join their team in Chennai, India. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services (BGS) business organization. 

As a Support Engineering Data Specialist, you will enable data-driven support solutions that improve product reliability and customer outcomes across Boeing programs. You will develop, maintain, and deploy Python-based analytics and machine learning pipelines, apply Generative AI and large language models to transform technical content and support workflows, and collaborate closely with engineering, sustainment, and support teams to operationalize insights. Your work will ensure high-quality data ingestion, model performance, and scalable automation that accelerate fault diagnosis, root-cause analysis, and proactive maintenance — all while aligning to security, compliance, and product engineering priorities to deliver a seamless support experience for internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy Generative AI applications and NLP-driven solutions tailored to the Boeing eCommerce environment (product search, content personalization, customer support augmentation).
  • Develop and implement NLP algorithms for business needs such as semantic search, intent classification, entity extraction, automated product descriptions, and summarization of technical content.
  • Apply ML and Gen AI techniques (including RAG, fine-tuning, and prompt engineering) to enable intelligent search, recommendations, chat/assistant capabilities, and content generation while preserving brand voice and regulatory constraints.
  • Conduct deep analysis of large eCommerce datasets to uncover insights that improve customer experience, increase conversion, and optimize merchandising.
  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Flask and FastAPI.
  • Integrate AI-powered solutions with eCommerce systems and collaborate with engineering, product, and marketing teams for smooth deployment.
  • Implement model validation, monitoring, observability, and continuous-improvement practices for production models; set up metrics for relevance, latency, accuracy, and business KPIs.
  • Utilize Excel to organize, analyze, and visualize data in a meaningful way, presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Data Preprocessing and Cleaning: Ensure the quality and accuracy of large volumes of structured and unstructured data using python.
  • Ensure solutions comply with data security, privacy and Boeing governance.
  • Produce technical designs, integration patterns, and documentation to support sustainment and knowledge transfer across eCommerce and support teams.
  • Partner with UI/UX, content, and merchandising stakeholders to align AI outputs with brand guidelines and ensure an optimal customer journey.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree is required as basic qualification.
  • 8+ years of professional experience developing software or data solutions using Python.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning fundamentals and model development workflows.
  • Practical experience developing NLP solutions (semantic search, embeddings, classification, summarization).
  • Familiarity with Generative AI / LLMs and applying them to web content, search, or customer support use cases.
  • Experience with data processing and pipeline tools (e.g., Pandas, SQL)
  • Experience analyzing web and eCommerce data.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; experience working with product and engineering stakeholders.
  • Understanding of enterprise data security, privacy, and compliance requirements relevant to eCommerce environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in applied ML/AI, NLP, or data engineering roles; prior eCommerce experience strongly preferred.
  • Production experience deploying ML/AI models at scale
  • Experience with cloud ML services and infrastructure (Azure, GCP)
  • Hands-on experience with transformer architectures, prompt engineering, fine-tuning LLMs, and RAG/knowledge retrieval pipelines.
  • Prior experience in aerospace or mechanical industries is a plus.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through a technical education (e.g., Bachelor/Master) and typically 8+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. (e.g, Master’s + 7 Years of experience).
