The Boeing Company’s Tax Department is currently seeking a State income Tax Project Manager to join its team in Chicago, Illinois. You will collaborate with teammates in a hybrid work environment to support and lead the state and local income tax function. This role is  suited for a mid-level tax professional with a strong corporate state income tax knowledge base and familiarity with United States (US) federal tax concepts.

This role will report to senior management residing in Chicago and will have frequent interaction with other teams, including the tax teams located at Boeing’s offices in Saint Louis, Missouri and Seattle, Washington. It will also entail teaming with other business partners across the Boeing organization as well as outside consultants. 

The candidate is expected to have a strong tax technical background and foundation in corporate state income taxes. The candidate must be highly motivated with a demonstrated understanding of state tax law, the ability to manage multiple projects at one time and a willingness to learn new areas of tax as needed. Strong analytical, research and communication skills are required.

The tax project manager will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Lead the quarterly and annual state income tax provisions and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting per Accounting Standards Codification 740 (ASC 740)

  • Manage state income tax audits

  • Analyze implications of state tax legislation and develop tax strategies for implementation. Support advocacy efforts, including analysis of various credit and incentive opportunities

  • Manage the state income tax compliance process, which includes preparation and/or review of state apportionment, annual filings, quarterly estimates and extensions, and state cash forecasting

  • Manage tax consultants where necessary to provide technical and compliance advice

  • Integrate new technologies to improve existing processes

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, business or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience working corporate income tax

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Possess an accounting degree, or certification such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or a higher education certificate in accounting from an accredited 4 year school

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with recent Big 4 public accounting experience

  • Project Management Experience

  • Ability to learn new areas and take on new responsibilities

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects

  • Ability to approach projects in a proactive manner and to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Excellent communication skills in all aspects (written, verbal, etc.)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $113,050 - $152,950
