Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a high-performing, experienced, self-motivated Component Engineer with Actives and/or Photonics devices to provide support for a wide variety of space programs at Boeing in El Segundo, California. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Senior-Level and Principal Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collects information to support definition of requirements for active/photonic EEE parts, materials and processes used in the manufacture and engineering design of satellite and aerospace products

  • Incorporates changes to specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes

  • Performs tests to qualify new EEE parts and processes to meet requirements

  • Assists with activities to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements

  • Conducts analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of EEE parts or processes

  • Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions

  • Develops production systems to satisfy user requirements

  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements

  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance post-Start is required, SSBI Tier 5 clearance preferred.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in electrical engineering, mechanical/aerospace engineering, materials engineering, or physics

  •  9+ years Component Engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 14+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical / electronic engineering or mechanical engineering

  • Experience with suppliers of electronic/wiring/interconnects

  • Experience with Materials and Processes engineering in Aerospace industry

  • Experience with the development, selection, and/or revision of parts, materials, and processes specifications used to make electronics and/or support of interconnect systems

Typical Education/Experience:

Expert Level 4: education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Expert Level 5: education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range:

Level 4: $146,200-189,200

Level 5: $176,800-228,800

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A current Tier 5(T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program Post-Start is required. This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
