We are seeking an experienced and passionate Occupational, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist (Senior) to join the EHS team, located in El Segundo, CA. This individual will lead, develop and integrate our EHS strategy. 

You will play a critical role shaping our safety culture, supporting site growth, and driving initiatives to ensure a safe and sustainable workplace. 

The role will foster and embed Boeing’s values in Safety and Quality, People Focus, Trust, Ownership, and Innovation to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The Occupational, Health and Safety Specialist will lead implementation and continuous improvement of EHS programs, ensuring compliance with local and state regulatory requirements and Boeing standards. This role acts as the local EHS focal point, partnering with operational leadership and production teams to reduce risks, prevent injuries, and promote a strong safety culture across the site.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Build and integrate strong relationships with site leadership to ensure EHS strategies are embedded in daily operations and long-term business planning.

  • Develop, implement, and sustain high-impact programs for injury and serious incident prevention, ergonomic risk reduction, and safety excellence.

  • Implement sustainable corrective actions using innovative and cross‑functional approaches.

  • Drive compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and Boeing requirements ensuring robust management system and proactive oversight.

  • Partner with Leadership and key stakeholder on site expansion activities to embed EHS requirements into design and oversight for safe construction and operational planning.

  • Provide leadership in technical guidance to workplace organization teams to build safety capability and a high‑performing team culture.

  • Identify, prioritize, and drive key EHS initiatives and integrated action plans; apply lean practices to optimize organization and processes.

  • Support projects aimed at anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling safety and environmental hazards within all our companies’ activities.

  • Ensure the EHS Management System elements are applied effectively and comply with local and state regulations and The Boeing Company standards.

  • Drive thorough investigations for all incidents and accidents, develop effective root cause analysis and countermeasures, and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.

  • Guide management to improve their effectiveness as safety leaders and promote safety culture locally as well as collaborate with them on matters regarding the local workplace environments.

  • Effectively communicate EHS metrics and regulatory compliance status to functional teams, local leadership, and Departments.

  • Support conducting site audits, inspections, evaluations, and reviews necessary for regulatory compliance and internal EHS standards.

  • Evaluate existing or emergent risk management control technologies and provide regulatory assessment, interpretation, reporting, and technical expertise to management and employees.

  • Maintain and update mandatory EHS documentation and records in compliance with local and state regulations.

  • Provide EHS training for new employees and contractors to raise EHS awareness.

  • Support your Organization with occasional additional tasks as needed in coordination with the site Production Operations Leadership.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field - Occupational Safety and Health and/or Industrial Hygiene

  • 10+ years of experience in Environment, Health, and Safety

  • 5+ years leading or managing a project team in a multi-skill discipline

  • 5+ years of experience implementing or managing an environmental, health and safety management system

  • 5+ years influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders across functions

  • Able and willing to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals

  • Strong knowledge in machine safeguarding, electrical safety, and hazardous energy control

  • Experience conducting incident investigations and performing root cause analysis

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $127,500 - $172,500
