Boeing Commercial Airlines is looking for Tool Engineers to join our 3D Metrology team in Everett, WA.

This role integrates dimensional metrology into the production system for tooling, assembly, and inspection processes. This is a highly technical role that will utilize a wide variety of hardware and software to meet the requirements of the production system.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops the integration of metrology plans and solutions to account for product configuration changes, continuous process improvements and emergent issues during the support phase of the product lifecycle.
  • Teams with cross-functional subject matter experts to develop and review metrology applications that meet product or tool engineering requirements considering affordability, practicality, usability and lifecycle costs.
  • Performs reference system creation, statistical bundling of data, alignments, data analysis and report creation with respect to engineering GD&T to characterize production and tooling parts and assemblies.
  • Reports results and communicates any impacts to production.
  • Writes programs to efficiently collect repeatable measurements and perform data analysis through the use of multiple programming languages, including Spatial Analyzer MPs and Python.
  • Performs process uncertainty analysis as required for data integrity verification and ensure compliance to type design.
  • Establishes technical requirements for the setup and execution of measurement surveys for build plan operations and tools.
  • Standardizes, teaches and deploys metrology processes while training personnel as required.
  • Creates and maintains metrology documentation related to the build plan.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (ABET is a preferred, although not required, accreditation standard)
  • 2 or more years’ related engineering work experience or a Masters of Science degree in an accredited STEM program

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 2 or more years of experience working in a production environment
  • 2 or more years of 3D modeling experience
  • 2 or more years of GD&T experience
  • 2 or more years of technical writing experience
  • 2 or more years of experience in data analysis
  • 2 or more years of computer programming experience

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

  • Summary pay range for Associate (Level 2): $81,600 - $110,400
  • Summary pay range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950
  • Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $118,150 - $159,850
