Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) is seeking an Aeronautics MDAO Software Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join the team in Everett, Washington.  In joining us you will be part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers, operating in a fast-paced environment, using and developing the latest aircraft design software and MDAO methods! Position Responsibilities: 

  • Research and/or test latest design, analysis and optimization software in the industry, especially Open Source.
  • Research, develop, integrate and validate MDAO-hardened analysis methods and software applications for conventional (i.e. tube and wings with turbofans) and non-conventional (i.e. box wing with hybrid-electric turboprops, etc.).

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):   

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5 + years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, mass properties, stability & control, kinematics, aircraft performance
  • Computer programming expertise

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience using OpenMDAO
  • Experience using Engineering Sketch Pad
  • Ability to perform fixed-wing aircraft sizing methodology
  • Knowledge and experience performing gradient-based optimization
  • Strong Work Ethic. Positive attitude. Optimistic. Pragmatic.
  • Can work productively in a noisy office environment.
  • Knowledge regarding 14 CFR Part 23, 25, etc.
  • Design-Build-Test experience of aircraft
  • Experience with Open Source software associated with aircraft analysis
  • Wind tunnel and data collection method knowledge
  • Knowledge and experience with control theory along with implementation
  • Knowledge of Boeing’s various engineering database management
  • 14 + years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range (Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950

Summary Pay Range (Level 4): $119,850 - $162,150

Summary Pay Range (Level 5): $145,350 - $196,650
