Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Car Loader\Unloader to join our Materials Management & Tooling team in Everett, Washington.

Join our dedicated team as a Car Loader/Unloader, where you will prepare railcars for unloading by expertly managing brakes and directing transportation personnel to facilitate safe operations. Your attention to detail will guide you as you verify incoming freight and break seals on railcars, ensuring that all contents are accurately accounted for. You will utilize various hand and power tools to disassemble shipping equipment and securely prepare empty railcars and containers for return shipping, helping to maintain a clear and organized work environment. Position Responsibilities:

  • Review the work area to determine tasks or obtain work assignments from the area lead.

  • Prepare railcars for movement to the unload position by unhooking and releasing hand brakes.

  • Direct transportation personnel to facilitate the movement of railcars and oversized aircraft components.

  • Provide ground support during the movement of railcars, ensuring the area is clear of obstacles and traffic.

  • Drive pilot and/or rear pilot cars to escort seavan carriers, using radios for communication.

  • Switch rail direction by setting rail switches to the appropriate position.

  • Break seals on railcars using hand tools such as bolt cutters and grinders.

  • Verify with the area lead that receiving inspection has authorized the unloading of incoming freight.

  • Disassemble Shipping Mechanical Equipment (SME) support braces by removing bolts with air and hand tools.

  • Move crane lift fittings and accessories using an electric stacker.

  • Attach and remove lift fittings for the movement of major airplane components using hand and power tools.

  • Prepare empty railcars, seavans, and containers for return shipping by securing tools and sealing them appropriately.

  • Couple and uncouple associated equipment, such as dollies and railcars, for transportation.

  • Assemble and attach fittings to Transportation Mechanical Equipment (TME) using pneumatic and torque wrenches.

  • Report completed jobs to the area lead or appropriate personnel to ensure the continuation of processes.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday, stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.

  • Ability to lift 30-40 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools.

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions 6-8 hours per day.

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Relocation:

  • Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Pay: $24.32/hour, with potential to earn up to $53.30/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
