Boeing Global Services (BGS) seeks a Flight Simulator Propulsion Engineer to join the Training & Simulation Digital Services (T&SDS) Engineering team located in Everett, Washington or Seattle, Washington. This position will support both Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Propulsion Simulation and Boeing Global Services (BGS) SimBinary Teams.

The Propulsion Simulation has two primary uses: (1) engineering analysis of the airplane system and (2) pilot training.

The Propulsion Simulation team is responsible for designing, building, troubleshooting, and maintaining software simulations, and supports service requests, customer solutions and predictive/proactive projects, for all in-service and developmental Propulsion Systems. The SimBinary team is responsible for developing and maintaining the Boeing Simulator Package (BSP) simulation software for pilot and crew training, which includes supporting training device manufacturers and airlines.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Provide subject matter expertise supporting both Propulsion Simulation and SimBinary teams in designing, building, troubleshooting, and maintaining software simulations of the underwing engine system
  • Research and respond to extensive, specialized technical questions to resolve a wide variety of flight simulator operational issues, service problems, and continued regulatory qualification concerns.
  • Responsible for first-time quality to ensure delivery of products that meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations.
  • Collaborates and communicates between multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • The ability to work independently under minimum supervision as well as in a team environment, and to be able to adapt to a changing work statement, is necessary.
  • Proactively identify and pursue improvements to strengthen processes and synergies across domains.
  • Tools: Engineers on this team will be using and developing tools in Matlab Simulink, GitLab for version control and Jira for project management.  (Other Boeing internal tools are used but can be taught as a part of onboarding including GSDS, PSIM, etc.)

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):             

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience in turbofan engine controls, thrust management, or performance analysis.
  • 3+ years of experience using Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience using unix-based/linux operating systems from command line

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9+ years of experience in turbofan engine controls, thrust management, or performance analysis.
  • Simulink Certification or MathWorks Certified Simulink Associate
  • MathWorks certified MATLAB Professional Exam
  • 3+ years of C++ experience
  • Experience with git or other software version control
  • Experience writing gitlab pipelines and performing automated testing

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range (Level 3): $100,300 - $135,700

Summary Pay Range (Level 4): $121,550 - $164,450
