Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking Associate, Mid-Level, or Senior Manufacturing Engineers to support 2nd shift factory operations in Everett, WA. A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

This opportunity is located in Everett, WA, and our team members support the entire 777 and 777X programs including structures, wings, and final assembly.

This is a unique 2nd shift opportunity in that you will be following a 4x9 schedule, working 4 days with 9 hours each (1:30 pm – 11 pm PST), either Monday through Thursday OR Tuesday through Friday. Employees are paid for a full 40-hour workweek and have 3 days off every week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Integrates across engineering disciplines to drive producibility requirements into the design of aircraft electrical systems (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)).

  • Engages in the implementation of technical solutions into the build plan, ensuring production safety and stability, and product reliability.

  • Analyzes and improves design/build concepts to evaluate a producible product definition (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)).

  • Collect and analyze production data to identify anomalies and investigate root causes when product first-pass quality and/or production efficiency is outside our standards of excellence.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems that arise during production to ensure the integrity of the product and to minimize impact on performance, cost, or schedule.

  • Leads the complex integration of aircraft mechanical and electrical systems into the aircraft build plan, ensuring an efficient and repeatable process for systems installation.

  • Coordinates with production and design engineers across commodities to ensure integration of electrical systems with all other interfacing airplane components (structures, interiors, etc.).

  • Drives innovative requirements for tooling and equipment to install and test electrical components more efficiently, earlier on in the build process, and more ergonomically for mechanics.

  • Regularly engages with mechanics and electricians on airplane manufacturing/assembly processes, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve the efficiency and reliability of the aircraft build plan.

  • Coordinates across teams to implement new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies, and concepts, including but not limited to electrical systems design, equipment installation, functional test, and more.

  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop manufacturing and assembly processes, tooling, assembly fixtures, and procedures.

  • Develops and implements process improvements using Lean production methodologies.

  • Able to learn in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to collaborate with both the engineering workforce and the manufacturing team members on the factory floor.

This position is a Production Engineering role and requires direct interfacing with the people, parts, and equipment on the production floor. A typical day could include:  

  • Spending up to 8 hours on feet standing/walking on the production floor

  • Climbing ladders or stairs to access equipment or airplane sections

  • Working at heights or in tight spaces

  • Wearing required PPE

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • Experience working in an engineering discipline.

  • Experience working in a production environment.

  • 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

  • Summary pay range for Associate level (Level 2): $80,750 - $109,250

  • Summary pay range for Mid-level (Level 3): $96,050 - $129,950

  • Summary pay range for Senior level (Level 4): $117,300 - $158,700
