The Boeing Company is seeking a Material Obsolescence Engineering Manager (Level K) to lead the Material Obsolescence (CMRM) team in Everett, WA.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced leader to manage the Chemical Material Risk Management (CMRM) team within Supply Chain Engineering. The ideal candidate will work extensively across the Enterprise including BCA Airplane Programs, BCA Engineering Functions, Supply Chain, Supply Chain Engineering (SCE), BTI/ET&I, CAS, Global Enterprise Sustainability (GES), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), BCA Product Development, BCA Business Strategy, & Environment, Enterprise EHS, Washington DC Ops, Boeing International Policy, Legal, Gov-Ops and Intellectual Property, BGS and BDS.

As Manager of the CMRM team, you will lead highly collaborative activities that ensure continued airplane production and delivery. Your leadership will ensure the chemical material obsolescence and regulatory mitigation activities are on-plan and that we get more pro-active about identifying material obsolescence and test failures that could impact chemical material supply. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership across the CMRM team, driving success, removing roadblocks, and supporting professional development.

  • Ensure development and implementation of CMRM risk mitigation plans.

  • Identify and execute on opportunities to get more pro-active about chemical material obsolescence, test failures and regulations.

  • Ensure smooth project hand-offs to program stake-holders for program-specific mitigations.

  • Partner closely with GES and PD identifying and managing regulatory risks.

  • Provide technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of the project plan.

  • Communicate status, residual risks, and recovery plans to program leadership and stakeholders; prepare and present concise, data-driven updates for executive reviews.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements and digital solutions within the change control function.

  • Mentor and develop team members to operate effectively under high schedule pressure and to adopt reproducible processes for certification and risk closure.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to Seattle site on regular basis.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA with regular travel to visit half the team in Seattle, WA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry

  • 3+ years of experience collaborating across multiple teams and functions.

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical or engineering role, preferably in aerospace.

  • 2+ years of people management experience, including coaching and developing engineers.

  • 2+ years of project management experience.

  • Familiarity with Materials & Processes and Airplane Certification Process.

  • Direct experience with material testing and qualifications.

  • Strong collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Communication skills: Ability to translate complex issues into cohesive, actionable components and communicate at an executive level.

  • Integration skills: Ability to build consensus, negotiate, and empower teams to deliver results where process definition may not yet exist or is unclear.

Pay and Benefits:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range:

$151,000 - $204,000
