Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Painter Finisher Specialto join our Paint team in Everett and Renton, Washington.

As a Painter Finisher Specialist, you will be integral to our commitment to delivering high-quality finishes on aircraft components. Candidates must have the ability to see color accurately, as your expertise in applying various coatings, including primers and decorative finishes, will ensure that each part meets stringent quality standards. You will have the opportunity to develop and implement precise painting processes, control paint viscosity, and blend finishes to achieve flawless results. Your attention to detail will be essential as you prepare surfaces, conduct thorough inspections, and collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to incorporate necessary changes. This role allows you to make a significant impact on our operations, ensuring that all work is completed safely and efficiently.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform painting on pre-delivery aircraft, including free-form painting, full body MICA paint jobs, gradient fades, blend fades, and decal applications to meet unique livery requirements.

  • Develop sequences and plans to ensure quality processes for the complete painting and finishing of multiple commercial aircraft.

  • Create necessary patterns, perform layouts, and apply prescribed decorative paints and finishes to the exterior of commercial aircraft.

  • Control paint viscosity and adhesive qualities by properly applying thinners to accommodate atmospheric conditions.

  • Blend finishes on reworked areas by removing paint, conditioning surfaces, and applying new paint.

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and other sections to incorporate changes and ensure the use of appropriate materials and tools.

  • Ensure cleanliness and proper preparation of surfaces to be painted, applying protective finishes as required.

  • Clean the exterior of the aircraft using solvents and/or chemical paint strippers as needed.

  • Prepare aircraft skins for chemical etching by power abrading and applying chemicals, following specifications.

  • Clean and adjust spray equipment to ensure proper functionality.

  • Control curing and air filtering equipment according to specifications.

  • Verify that the aircraft is ready for exterior finish by conducting in-process inspections with Boeing Quality Assurance (QA) and the customer.

  • Obtain daily work assignments through the SAT system or from the lead or supervisor.

  • Mask off areas that do not require finishing per Installation Plans and drawing requirements.

  • Clean up work areas and restock masking and painting supplies as required.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties. 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience with paints/coatings.​

  • Experience  reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. ​

  • Experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools.​

  • Experience in handling and disposing of hazardous materials per government regulations.​

  • Ability to pass and complete fall protection training and work with heights of seventy feet or more and not exceed weight restrictions.

  • Effectively wear eye, hearing, foot, hand, respirator and other personal protective equipment/safety gear at all times.​

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience finishing and painting in either Aircraft, Automotive or Marine Industry.​

  • Experience using HVLP and or electrostatic spray gun equipment​

  • Experience working in a team environment. 

Typical Education:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Summary pay range: $31.00 - $54.24
