Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA)is seeking aSeats Senior Consultant Engineerto join theSeat Integration Team (SIT)based in Everett, Washington. This role will provide strategic company and industry guidance on processes and methodologies related to aircraft seat design, integration, qualification, and certification.

The position is driven by the increasing complexity of integrated seat and monument combinations, including suites with high-wall and low-wall seat surrounds, as specified by our customers to meet evolving market expectations. These seating projects demand extensive technical expertise across multiple facets of seat and cabin product design, qualification, certification, and production. The goal is to ensure seamless integration into the aircraft, fulfilling customer requirements while supporting production build rates and maintaining workplace safety. Additionally, many of these products involve unique partnerships with airlines as Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE).

As a Senior Consultant Engineer, you will collaborate with technical leaders, senior engineers across airplane programs, airline representatives, industry stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to drive improvements in design quality, feature development, requirements, and certification processes. Key responsibilities include championing engineering excellence and innovation, providing technical leadership to resolve complex challenges, proactively identifying and managing risks and opportunities, and representing Boeing in industry committees or as a technical liaison.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a highly experienced engineer with detailed knowledge of FAA and EASA regulations, SAE Seat Committees, and a wide range of regulatory/requirement compliance frameworks as applied to seats.

  • Have a thorough and demonstrated knowledge of the seating industry, with a background in passenger and attendant seat development, installation and certification, particularly the use of Technical Standard Orders.

  • Awareness of industry direction for seat products as well as cabin configuration influences on seat integration.

  • Have strong technical leadership, systems engineering, and integration skills; a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and suppliers; and excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Be a proactive, accountable leader who can balance technical rigor with practical execution to deliver safe, compliant, and customer-focused seat installations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic and industry guidance on processes and methodologies relevant to structural and payload design.

  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.

  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

  • Works independently.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).

  • 20+ years of experience in engineering (including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.

  • Demonstrated direct engagement with the FAA and EASA regulatory agencies on complex cabin certification, safety, and airworthiness projects.

  • Demonstrated experience as a consultant or leader in the commercial seat industry serving as a primary spokesperson on company’s technical capabilities and future direction.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay range: $202,300 - $273,700
