The Boeing Company is looking for a Workers Compensation Lead to join our team in Everett, WA or Seattle, WA.

The Workers Compensation Administration group provides technical and financial oversight of the company’s statutorily required workers compensation claims programs.  In this role you will provide direction and lead the Workers’ Compensation Administration team to achieve program objectives.  You will report to the Sr. Manager, Integrated Absence Management and be responsible for administering and continuously improving the program.

This role collaborates with Corporate Risk Management and the Workers’ Compensation Consultant to develop, recommend, and implement strategies, policies, and procedures that ensure regulatory compliance, achievement of program goals, and alignment with organizational objectives.  The Lead monitors performance against financial targets, claims costs, and lost time injury metrics, providing data analysis and insights to stakeholders.

The position supports integration of workers’ compensation initiatives with Corporate Risk Management, Environmental Health and Safety, HR Services, Finance, and Operations. It works closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to refine claim reporting and management processes, recommend cost containment programs, and drive continuous improvement of post-loss claim management.  The role maintains regular engagement with the Washington Department of Labor and Industries, either directly or indirectly, and other relevant agencies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Claims and Vendor Management:The Workers’ Compensation Lead oversees sensitive claims and supports approval of reserve changes and settlements within delegated limits.  Using the enterprise Risk Information Management System and organizational knowledge, the role balances workloads among Workers Compensation Administrators.  You will manage vendor relationships, monitor third-party service provider performance - including contracts, claim handling instructions, incentives, and audits - and communicates feedback and updates to vendors.

  • Advocacy and Cost Containment:Acting as a resource and advocate for employees and internal customers, the position serves as a point of contact for escalations.  It leads cost containment efforts related to managed care, litigation, vocational services, and other program areas.  This role ensures consistency of processes across sites and states and utilizes claims and risk management systems to generate reports and provide meaningful data to the team and stakeholders.

  • Compliance, Audit, and Training Support:Additionally, the Workers’ Compensation Lead directs workers’ compensation program audits and quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.  It also helps deliver training and informational sessions to internal stakeholders to promote understanding and compliance with workers’ compensation policies and best practices.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans and annual operating goals related to workers’ compensation administration.
  • Routinely analyze claims and risk management data to identify trends, monitor performance against targets, and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with workers’ compensation policies and procedures through effective communication and training support.
  • Support oversight of third-party administrators and service providers by monitoring performance and facilitating communication.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies to facilitate claim resolution and program effectiveness.
  • Assist in implementing cost containment initiatives.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years of experience in Workers Compensation
  • 5+ years of experience using a Claims Management and/or Risk Management Information System
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing data and metrics to identify trends for organizational needs
  • 1+ years of experience leading teams or projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Excel (i.e. formulas, pivot tables, linking worksheets)
  • Experience with data transfers and data handling

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $153,000 - $207,000
